about all the SCO fuzz: SCO is dying and they(Darl et al.) know it. They just want to get as much money out of it as they can, so they're hoping to settle with IBM for some millions(a real bargain compaired to the 3 billion they're claiming). In addition all the media attention pushes up the stock prizes.
I say: just stop listening to this crazy SCO-fud, don't even mention it on slashdot. A complete media silence would be perfect.
Is say Keep It Simple Stupid (KISS). Internet Radio(with the same music in each room): put a stereo amplifier in each room, and interconnect them via the "tape" i/o. No need to stream anything and you can choose the volume for each room individually.
Video: Put a thin client (x-terminal) in your Home Theatre, 2 reasons: Low Noise and Low Noise;) Only problem: sound also gets to the other rooms(interconnected amplifiers) so you might want to use a separate soundcard with videoplayback.(for true 5.1 sound you might want to do that anyway)
You are indeed right, if we had digital radiosystems then we could do it the TCP/IP way. However, the current system is analog where the things you are proposing(sequence numbers/buffers) are much harder to implement.

The dualty means that light and radiowaves can be viewed as being rays as well as being particles, depending on the situation. Reed only looks at the particles, or photons. However, with the camera obscura you need to view light as being rays. (because the size of the pinhole is much bigger than the wavelenght of the light, or even the size of a single photon).
Mr.Reed also doesn't present any proof of his theory or even an experiment that can verify that theory, now that's bad science! I personally have seen photons interfering: just let a beam of light (from a laser) pass through a very fine grating (bar spacing smaller than 700nm) and you will get the same interference pattern that you get when you have waves in water passing through a row of bars. Furthermore, people have been using interference microscopes, where you split a beam of light, one half passes through the object (and is changed) and the other half travels the same distance without hitting anything. When these two beams are "re-united" there will be interference which gives you information about the object.
I totally agree with david that the tabs need there own close button, like galeon does. Another feature I love is that in galeon you can drag the individual tabs to another location, so you can group them the way you like.
I'm back to mozilla right now and I really miss these features.
btw: I with mozilla now because the gtk-2 port of galeon is not finished yet. (anxiously waiting for it...)
I geuss desktop-interfaces are like beer or cigarettes: the basic functionality is the same, but everyone has his favorite brand.

To all the professors climbing up the ladder: This wifi thingy is new to the students right now and only temporarily distracting them. They just need to get used to it, which involves exploring the possibilities. Be glad they have such an interest in new technology!
Give it a few months(and some bad exam results;) ) and you'll see everything gets back to normal.

wob means wolfsburg, the city in germany where the factory is located. (german lisence plates start with the city/region where te car recieves it's license plates) as for l1... duh!
People complaining about the dehumanizing are technofobes, imho.
These things are perfect when you need something when the "human" stores are closed (don't tell me all the shops you know are open 24/7). Or when you wake up on a holiday and realise you ran out of bread/butter/milk/whatever and all shops are closed... come'on we all experienced it at least once!
It contains one tenth of a normal store, so will it put the normal stores out of business??? Sure... just like television made the newspapers disappear, and internet killed television...

This effect is caused by the redistribution of the mass of the rotating body (de arms are relocated), I don't think the mass of the elevator will be anything significant in relation to the mass of the rotating earth.
And, hydrogen for that reaction is produced by the electrolysis of water, at a net loss of energy. Duh, that's the first law of thermodynamics. You ALWAYS have a net loss of energy when converting from one type to another(energy is never "created"). The few fusion reactors we have today also need more energy to keep them going than comes out of them.
Now I think about it, there's is not one power"souece" that is the solution to all our energy-problems, we need several clean ways of making electricity wind/solar/fuel cell to keep the energy conversion going.
