You'd be surprised at how many homosexual geeks there are. My second tech job was at a local ISP with about 25 employees. One gay male that I know of. Third tech job was at a company with about 400 employees. I didn't get to know more than say 150 of them, but of those, I know that 3 of them were gay. And those were just the ones that advertised. Another was a transsexual (Dressed as a woman long enough and got the sex change). I would have to say that there must have been as many or more homosexuals than there were females. The homosexuals were all geeks too. In fact, one of them was a trainer with more certifications and knowledge than anyone I have ever met. The transsexual was also a trainer. Smart, geeky, but definitely not straight.
This story is a repeat that I've seen at least one other time here on/.. If I recall correctly, the cable is very unlikely to snap, but if a terrorist were to break it, the cable would fall to the ocean and there wouldn't be any devastating impact.
Regarding your accusations of Michael being an idiot for posting the lamest stories...I agree. If it weren't for him, Slashdot would probably be my home page instead of the AP Wire.
Of course not. The MCSE is a system administration certification. If you want to talk about senior software development, look to those that are MCSDs and have several years of experience.
I thought it might have something to do with hacker insurance. If your cert is compromised, Verisign will cover the financial losses up to a certain amount. Thawte (Started by the famous and rich S. African space tourist) which is now owned by Verisign doesn't have any hacker insurance.
I saw that video of all the RARE characters being cute and funny around the Xbox logo. I broke down in tears when I saw what they did to Joanna Dark. She's a freaking anime!!! What, did they think she was too sexy as a human??? I don't know what they're smoking over there, but they need to change brands before they lose a hard core fan.
The Pacific link between Peking and Seattle, which America and China use to communicate has experienced a/. effect. In response, China has delared war on Michael.
It is also reported that hacker wars between the two countires are on hold until the posting is phased out some time tomorrow.
How do you know that they are going to stop releasing patches for NT4? Are you in upper management at Microsoft? Probably not. I did however support NT4 networking, security, and setup for Microsoft for over a year (2000-2001). From experience, I'll assume that if NT4 is vulnerable (RAS and/or RRAS), they'll fix it. There's still a lot of NT4 servers out there because of the cost to upgrade the server OS and CALs. Hell, they supported NT 3.51 up until about a year ago. They drop client side OS support after so many years without thinking twice because they have a stranglehold on the consumer OS market. The server market is a whole different story though. Why would they piss off corporate customers? Corporations realize that end users aren't going to be sitting in front of servers, so it makes little difference how familiar it is to the whole staff. Corporations aren't as afraid to switch server platforms. Microsoft needs to provide a lot of incentive to get people to stick with their server suite and they know it.
Look at the link that Tweek posted. They are being very careful not to piss off the server market. Windows 95 support started to disappear without warning. Compare that decision to the page Tweek referenced and you'll see the difference in attitude.
My home page is set to the AP Wire. I can't find anything on this story and it was supposedly released within the last few hours? Also, the article says The American Civil Liberties Union is "Up in arms." Why then isn't there any mention of it on their homepage or in their news section?
This "article" is a part of a computer troubleshooting Q&A which shows how to recover protected WMA files.
A user's WMA collection doesn't have to be copy protected, so don't shoot down WMA for having the capability. Even if a user doesn't disable the copy protection and they reinstall Windows, they can still use their WMA files (The whole point of the Q&A). No big deal.
I saw a few responses saying that there's no good reason to use WMA. Well, when the same quality can be achieved at a lower bitrate, I see a very good reason to use WMA. The only reason I use MP3 is because my Archos Jukebox only supports MP3.
I don't like the monopoly that MS has, but I'm not going to play along with the MS witch hunt that a lot of people seem to enjoy. Let's stick to posting informative stories instead of posting anything at all that can be twisted into a trolling, anti-MS statement.

I know this is off-topic, but I'd like to point out that the USA is not as big as we all think it is. Yesterday, I was looking through the CIA World Factook and was surprised by some of the numbers. I knew China has more people than us, but I wasn't prepared for what I saw.
United States Population: 278,058,881 (July 2001 est.) China Population: 1,273,111,290 (July 2001 est.) India Population: 1,029,991,145 (July 2001 est.) Japan Population: 126,771,662 (July 2001 est.) That's a lot of people for the amount of land!
We are switching to the metric system. You just can't expect it to happen overnight since the vast majority of the population thinks in feet and miles.
Do you make them feel stupid or get impatient when they come for help? There's not that many techies out there that are approachable. Big egos and a competitive edge are the faux pas of us nerds.

Very true, but I meant to say that it's not going to cause a tsunami or collapse on Manhattan.

This threw me off at first too as I scanned the text for the interesting parts. It took me a few seconds to link it up with the Midget joke.

Better yet, how about a window kit on the die matched with a clear heatsink and fan. Sweet...
OMG, that's the funniest thing I've ever seen. Even better than riceboypage.

Don't repress me big boy. It's not the size that counts, it's how you use it.
Considering that YT was like 14 or something, you and that big surfer/spearhunting dude need to get your heads out of the gutter.
