I went to download quicktime the other day and found that I had to also install iTunes with it. WTF?!? If I wanted iTunes I would have downloaded it long ago. It's like Apple is really the new Real.
It makes a lot of sense for Apple to try and get a switch campaign going because even a small number of switchers is a lot for Apple. Going the other way the math works against them though. Even if 10% of Apple users could be convinced to switch it wouldn't add up to that great of an increase. On the other hand I'm not sure what the point really is with this. I guess it's just to show that Intel can also produce boxes that look shiny but don't have much inside.
Absolutely. But I would have lined something else up first. On the other hand he said he sold the company. If it was enough money maybe I could afford to take a break for a while. I'd site that as the reason though, not his silly dev tools issue
The point was to test the "Out of Box" experience. XP with SP2 what users get out of the box now. The firewall is on by default and the automatic update is the default selection. SP2 was such a large step forward in terms of user security that I'm sure they sleep quite well. This is yet more proof that these three OSs are now on even footing in terms of security.
Random doesn't mean there will not be clumping. In fact it would be rare that there wouldn't be some clumps and I think it is just our human capacity to pick out patterns that notices the clumps and tries to make order out of them.
I agree. The nice thing about religion as a concept is how flexible it is. Once you've excepted the notion of a supreme being that can do anything, excepting anything else is easy. You just say "God did that too." It's just too bad so many people are rigid and unwilling to look at it that way.
Seriously scary stuff. The people in the current administration just amaze me. That they would reward a dirt pile like this with an appointment just shows how blind they are to the real world. As long as their ivory tower is kept clean they are happy.
"The cynical part of me would like to mention that in years past there really wasn't much need for rootkits on Win32 machines: if the intruder wanted to keep privileged access it would be relatively simple matter to acquire it again."
That's more optimistic than cynical. It means that security is improving when the black hats have to step it up a notch.
How MobilePCMag could put together a list like this and leave off the TabletPC is beyond comprehension. For #58 the Panasonic Toughbook they comment how fragile the Tablet PC is without saying that there are also ruggedized Tablet PCs. Hmmm.
"Implicitly, this means you think it's ok, in a society that presumably has rule of law, for people to personally decide which laws are ok to follow and which laws aren't."
You got that exactly right. Thoreau correctly pointed out that it is the individual's civil obligation to ignore the laws that he feels unjust. "Why has every man a conscience, then?"
There was a section with a bug commented out. The section was then appended with a further comment that read: "The person that wrote this bug is a waste of budget and a waste of my time."
The funny part is that I discovered this rude comment while fixing a bug in his new "fixed" code that still didn't work right. The culprit was long gone by that time.
Oh. There it is buried down a few levels. That's not shady at all.
Dumbass.
Personally I would rather have a AAA battery. It is cheap and easy to carry a spare.
"Yes, I'm going for an even split between funny and troll"
I would have moded Insightful if I had the points.

"I'm going here tonight with my girlfriend for free ice cream."
You big spender. I'm sure she'll be quite impressed.

Heh. I assumed you were going the other way and wanting none. Or more likely a Mac fanboy gloating about a sleek port deprived Apple design.

"It may be the first computer to be that small, but it's in no way an original idea."
The mini mac is also in no way the first to be that small.
"...how many serial ports does it have?"
My hope would be one. More than that is too many but none is too few. One would be just right.

I fart in your general direction.
Yes it does. It also blocks applications from connecting out by default.
"You mean this is different from the blue screen of death?"
Very much so. The blue screen has a lot of useful information that can be used to find out what the problem was. The sad mac or bomb is useless.

Start-> Control Panel-> Add remove programs
Select Windows compontents. Uncheck WMP.
Click OK
What's the big deal?
"No one knows for sure, but the implication of those links is" == FUD

You sir are missing your funny bone.
