'"It could be a test-firing of an intercontinental ballistic missile from a submarine to demonstrate, mainly to Asia, that we can do that," speculated Ellsworth. '
What likely happened:
Obama: So, Mr. Ambassador, if you'll be so kind as to turn on CNN. Oh hey, look at that, we launched an ICBM. Rest assured, your enemies are our enemies."
This wasn't a Chinese sub sitting off the coast of SF. Our military would've dropped a collective deuce. This is missile-waving to get someone's attention.
"Over the past three years, there has never been a single concern voiced to Red Schoolhouse by any teacher or other user of OARS about system security."
No kidding? You mean everyone used a default password for years, and didn't complain? Definitely a spin to take the heat off the company. The software should come with a big read warning sign, "Change the default password, and give each user a unique password!"
Sure, but the point he claims is that TV2Me can get "live" quality video from anywhere. Whereas, Cringely stated in his article he couldn't get nearly that quality even on the same intranet.
How would the legal aspect work out? Seems like you'd have to sign a fairly strict license saying the movie studio still owns what your computer rendered, copyright, etc.
There's no reason to choke off Linksys. The reason for the purchase was to gain entry into the home market (i.e. less functional, less robust, but cheaper).
I doubt Linksys will be crushed.

Doubtful. The reason behind the purchase is to gain more market in the home network business, so there's really not much incentive to raise the prices.

All Slashdotters who post before 10 a.m. get non-qualified stock options. Get a piece of blank paper, write a number on it, and there you go.
I believe Slashdot could warn the subjects about their impending server apocalypse.

Very cool idea nonetheless.
How about "X++" ?
It's called Turner-Time (for Ted Turner). His tv network has been doing this for years. They usually bump the shows about 5 minutes.
Sounds like you were dialing internationally, rather than domestic - U.S.
Ah, but in Soviet Microsoft, Windows gives you the boot.
Sad that it applies to those working on the computers, too.
Ah, the Mexico 1.0 standard. That was just deprecated yesterday. You must upgrade to Mexico 2.0 /obscure
standard now.
In Soviet Russia, the FBI hacks you.
