It would be nice if someone compiled SuxPanel[1] for the Z, too... I haven't tested it on small displays, so if you try it, please contact me (if you can provide me binary packages I'd like to receive them, too!).
Why not write some kind of WaveOut driver that, instead of playing it through your speakers, save whatever is sent to it to some file? You can then reencode it in another format (and even use it in that el cheapo MP3 player)...
They're doing the same thing here, in Brazil. Speedy (this is how Telefonica, Sao Paulo's telephone company, calls their ADSL thing) is being limited to 3GB/month in the 300kbps plan. You're supposed to pay US$0.03 per megabyte that surpasses this limit (!!)...
Hopefully this is only for new clients. Older (like me) gets unlimited access...
I'm still using an IBM Model M keyboard made in 1985... it's the best keyboard I've ever used, and it's in a damn great shape. Today's $10 keyboards won't last a week:)
Ah, yes, I have a SoundBlaster AWE32 card too. Got that with a "multimedia kit" back in 1996. I wish I had that 8x IDE drive too, but Creative sucks at doing these things... interestingly, a Xing Ling drive I got one year later is still functional on my firewall PC...:P
And heh... I still use my MSX2+ and AppleII machines for real work (I use the Apple as a serial terminal to debug some programs). The MSX2+ is used mainly for games, though.
Yes, it's legal. TecToy has all the Sega rights here in Brazil, from Master System to Dreamcast, including Mega Drive (Genesis in US) and Game Gear.
There are also "official game hacks" made by them, such as "Sapo Xulé", "Chapolim Colorado" and "Monica no Castelo do Dragão". They hacked some games (Psycho Fox, Alex Kidd etc) to sell based on some known characters.
Some games were also produced by them, such as the "Duke Nukem 3D" version of Mega Drive, a platform game of "Pica-Pau" (Woody Woodpecker) and "Show do Milhão" (Brazilian "hack" of the TV show "Who wanna be a millionaire?").
So it's not like those "Polystations" (damn horrible Famicom -- or NES -- clones inside a Playstation case) or those "controllers with a huge amount of games inside", it's just another version, such as those being released by Majesco.
Unfortunately it's a stripped-down Master System, so you don't have a slot to plug-in your 3D Googles or Sega Cards...
I am using an LCD since past month. It's a 16x2 one, controlled by a Hitachi HD7780. Since I'm not in USA, importing a CristalFontz or Matrix Orbital one were impo$$ible.
I've found this on a electronics junkyard for US$5, got an old printer cable and soldered everything as found on LCDProc's (search freshmeat for it) man page.
LCDProc runs on *nix, is damn easy to configure and to write a "plugin". Since it's networked, just a few lines of Perl code and you can write something that flashes the backlight and display some important syslog line...:)
There are some modifications you can do it, such as inverting (removing a plastic thing inside it and putting it back there, flipp'd 180 degrees) the colors, so the back'll be black and the letters'll be green. I'm about to do this next week (when I get time).
Some guys also changed the backlight LEDs (blue ones everyone?), but it's difficult to find SMD things here:(
Oh, really? If so, the devices works as they should.
Eggs? The correct word seems to be 'cheese'...
Sue Google, then!

Uh, Coral Web Cache also seems to be Slashdotted...
But that's only US$ 43... :P
...they also built a virus SDK.
Whoa! What will happen to bash.org then? :P
16mg of RAM and 8mg of VRAM?
:~~~
I wonder when they'll start shipping 1kg RAMs...

This way the DRM would be useless

No, they might run ITRON :P
... real life viruses, worms and such, huh?

... a beowulf cluster of these!
Yes, sc.
You can also use that example that came with TurboC under dosemu ":P
IIRC, John Bradley was having problems in releasing a new xv version due to GIF patents issue. The latest version dates from 1994 (!!)...
:)
BTW, what's this "Unisys T-27 Emulator" ad over there?

When it's ready, could someone post a dmesg somewhere? :)
Now we'll be able to use elgooG easily!

Is him from Al Qaeda? :P
I've been using CBB for a while now. It's small, run on Linux and MacOS, and mature enough to suit my little needs. Check cbb.sf.net.
