    Obviously the charge of an electron is constant (in case you get confused eV is a measurement of velocity, not charge). What we use in computers today is the QUANTITY of electrons "flowing" (these days tunnelling may be a better term) through non-conductive layers.

    And no non-conductive is exactly where it needs to be. The edge of today's transistor is a non-conductive, but very small, silicon edge.

    Because it is well done. I'm sure they're not playing entirely fair, but still, it's their success, they built it, they earned the reward for it. And it does look nice. Let them have their reward.

    I'm a linux man myself. I doubt that will ever change. But I feel no need whatsoever to destroy microsoft.

    Have you checked what industry visa is in ? Obviously they know a thing or two about both physical and electronic security.

    That they succeeded in the banking business obviously means they know to strike a good balance between security and costs. And that's exactly what the olympics is looking for.

    It's ARAB muslims (the "Janjaweed") on horses that kill the non-ARAB BLACK "abdels" (black slaves), who are both muslim and christian. The government of Sudan describes it as a jihad, and as a result, is getting support, people and weapons, from muslims world-wide.

    That will really help. Sorry to break it to you but free speech, as it exists in the U.S., is pretty unique in the world. Therefore removing ICANN from the US government will worsen the situation considerably.

    (and yes I've got experience in multiple international organisations, and I really shouldn't be saying this, but if you expect them to be in favor of free speech, or fair against the little man, you're in for an unpleasant surprise. I'm not saying the US is perfect, far from it, but right now, it's the best there is)

    And I guess we're not to ask "why", right ? Whom will get custudy over ICANN after this operation ? Are we to believe that the ICANN board, we all know how reliable they are, will make the right choices for all of us ? Will it be the UN ? I trust them even less to make the right choice. I like where the internet has gotten under US law. Why would a change, as big a this, be necessary ?

    Yes. You need the satellites to be able to move. The winds at high altitudes will normally move these balloons far out of any reasonable range in 1 or 2 days, after which they'd have to be collected, which is stupid (and they might drop into sea etc).

    You need to move around to remain stationary in the air. That's what helium balloons don't do.

    I'm not of that point. But I do think some people need to get their facts straightened out. The US is a million times better than Iran in just about every respect.

    Even "morality". Forcing morality on people just doesn't work, and creates thousand of victims (especially if you do it the islamic way), making it a horrendous crime in itself.

    I mean how anybody can say that a country that has women raped first and then stoned to death in front of their own children is better than the US is beyond me. Completely beyond me.

    Tolerance was non-existant under muslims of the caliphate, and thousands of christians and jews were brutally slaughtered. Just as the byzantine christians were slaughtered and, more recently the christian armenians fell under the ottoman turks when the ottoman empire had just lost its fight with the west.

    That would be your stupidity and judgement. You directly assumed I haven't asked a native arabic speaker. I have. And he assures me the sentence calls for beheadings.

    I would like to point out that you do not look at the original arabic either. You just say that I "must" have made a mistake, and directly assume I haven't done my homework.

    You're argument basically boils down to "but everybody knows that islam is peaceful", well, as they say. A 1000 years ago everybody knew the earth was flat (as the quran claims btw). 500 years ago everybody knew the earth was the center of the universe (because the bible seemed to say so. the quran directly claims this, and even today saudi arabia jails scientist that claim this isn't true). A 100 years ago everybody knew that the Titanic was unsinkable. Imagine what you'll know tomorrow.

    No he "converted" in order to no longer be a slave. Do you think he actually changed ? He even kept the same job. It's just that before he did not get paid.

    This is what muslims do : non-muslims are slaves in islamic countries. In Saudi arabia you cannot leave (or enter) the country as a non-muslim without written permission from a muslim.

    However keep in mind that muslims conquering generally let the elite of a society (ie. architects) intact.

    So most mosques were actually designed by non-muslims. E.g. the blue mosque in Istambul was constructed by a Christian architect, who was trained by another Christian architect, the "best ottoman architect ever", by the name of Sinan.

    Did muslims understand the maths necessary to construct large domes in the 11th century ? No.

    But Byzantine Christians did. As did Moroccan Jews.
