I've seen multiple reviews of iPhone 4 cases on Amazon with comments about some light colored cases causing reflection of the LED flash back into the lens. That would not explain problems with the front facing camera though.
I can understand Google keeping it close and in an academic research environment. In a few years they might start investigating more mainstream uses, and in 5 to 10 years some of this may trickle out to the average Joe. I expect in that time frame other commercial interests will do the same.
I think it is an admission that Chief Software Architect as implemented at Microsoft was just a nice sounding title to hand to one of the old crowd so they could feel they were still contributing.
Here is what AT&T charges above the advertised rate for my wireless:
Credits, Adjustments, and Other Charges: * Regulatory Cost Recovery Charge: 0.66 * Federal Universal Service Charge: 1.04 * TX Franschise Tax Recovery: 0.30 * Texas Universal Service: 0.65
Taxes: * 911 Service Fee: 0.50 * Tx State Telecom Tax: 2.72 * City Telecom Tax: 0.44 * City District Telecom Tax: 0.29
The important thing to note here is the "Credits, Adjustments, and Other Charges" section is not taxes. They are fees with names made up by AT&T to sound like taxes so customers won't complain. In reality this section is just an additional $2.65 monthly charge not included in the advertised rate. They should clearly state a rate for everything that is not taxes. But, of course, they are evil and regulation is weak so that will never happen.
At least you will get to see Bilbo escape bad guys on his totally extreme BMX bike flying out of the screen in 3D! [sound of rock guitar in background] EXTREME!
That's a little over the top. There are people in high places who are doing what they think necessary to accomplish their mission. They may be wrong. Their actions may not be lawful. But I don't see the entirety of the US government sitting around thinking of how much they hate freedom and democracy and conspiring ways to end it. If you want to correct a problem it helps to have a reasoned view of what motivates the participants.

I really don't get why people think Empire was the best.
Leia's metal bikini?
Borrow some dragon platform boots from Gene Simmons. What could be cooler than Star Wars and KISS?
61% of Americans need to be cockpunched
50.9% of Americans do not have a cock to punch. (2000 census)
abort, retry, fail?
Sounds like Microsoft's mobile phone strategy.
Most people don't know about filetype:
I do now. Honestly, I did not know. Thanks /. for helping America to keep up with the Chinese!
Does my hybrid make me a hermaphrodite?

Fry: "Space pirates?"
Leela: "You know...pirates, but in space!"
He has to declare his illegal porn as well.
Reuse the Gates Borg image. I always thought he was nuts and he does cause a bad reaction in some people.
I thought an Australian restraining order would include a dingo graphic.
"advanced measures to track banned users."
"enhanced interrogation techniques" - A familiar meme.

If you create a subversive organization it has to be led by someone no one knows except organization cell leaders.
You should always use code names like "CmdrTaco" and "CowboyNeal".
Sensationalism. Trolling. Flamebait.
Welcome to the machine.
I wonder how many parsecs it takes to cook a whole turkey with this.

Yes, I'm still upset about the skateboarding elf.
Each item should have a red, yellow, and green button.
Green = Like
Red = Dislike
Yellow = indifferent but desperately lonely
