At least for the US, any workable system in Europe is immediately disregarded here by a stubborn minority as "socialist" (the new evil word) and foreign. This group believes anything the US does, regardless of results, is superior to the rest of the world. They will ignore or misrepresent established health care systems that provide better results for half the price because of those beliefs. They sure as hell won't follow a successful reduced harm law if it comes from outside the US.
But maybe such laws getting a foothold in California will help change that. Or better yet, the marshmallow majority can get off their butt and vote in sufficient numbers to make themselves heard.
Working legacy systems can also provide some job security. Nobody new is learning those systems and competition for your spot is limited. Look on the bright side of life... de do, de do
Now you see why the US didn't sign on to the treaty banning cluster bombs...
If the unexploded bomblets from a cluster bomb resembled cash bribes you can be sure the treaty would be signed. Otherwise there would be many politicians with missing appendages.
Absolutely. On KLRU PBS I've seen a string of commercials that included: A beer commercial (Michelob), a fast food commercial (Schlotzkys), and an insurance commercial. These were not "brought to you by" or "supported by" screens, they were full blown commercials. Then they shutdown programming for a couple of weeks of "pledge week" every couple of months. To top it off, they have been cranking the commercial volume to 2x or 3x the main programming volume. At the end of the PBS News Hour be ready with the mute or you will jump out of your seat from the blaring commercials.
I used to donate, now I just throw the weekly begging for more money mailers into the trash. I treat them like any other commercial broadcaster.
Probably Red Hat gets a perpetual free license and Acacia does not get their patent tested so they can pursue targets with fewer resources to protect themselves.
I'm self employed (actually a partnership of 3 guys). It is a world more open and honest than dronehood, but as Bob Dylan sung: "You're going to have to serve somebody.". There is always someone upstream that requires edited information and managed expectations. At least when things pass a line of your choosing you can allow the customer to "pursue other opportunities" without trashing your entire income stream.
Reading this post while imagining the voice of Rod Serling is awesome! If only you had added the punch line "...you have now entered the Timer Warner Zone"
M3 had not just found water on the moon (which was widely reported in the press) but a whole bunch of Holmium, Neodymium, Europium...
Of course! The Japanese could launch robots to mine these minerals, pack them into large cargo ships for return to Earth, and then crash them into Beijing.
This looks like an innocent fuck up. Mods are human and the occasional human might be distracted by chaos in the world, relationship problems, and a quart of tequila. So say sweet dreams to this fellow now resting an unconscious head on a keyboard collecting drool.
Governments breed waste, inefficiency and tyranny and can never lead to a net gain for society when compared to a private institution.
Never? Taking that at face value you must advocate the elimination of laws, courts, police, and military (all government institutions) to be replaced with the might makes right anarchy of every man for himself (the ultimate private institution). To me that sounds like a net loss for society.
stall, make token gestures, lie, and basically find other ways to run out the clock until the next administration comes in...
Or as Sir Humphrey Appleby said:
"Indeed it is, beyond question, at the appropriate juncture, in due course, in the fullness of time."
Tears from frustration at all the dropped calls?
Steve would use this layout. When the iLife Clock blinks, it's time to think different.

I just checked Glenn Beck's facebook page and he has plenty of friends.

Burn it off with massive open fires so you can get to the green energy.

It's amazing you can still type while stroking Steve's member like that.
Kinky.
Of course. All of my posts are scholarly as well.
I'd almost forgotten the skateboarding elf, thanks.

Envision if you will...

This is a test by Intel. If it fails, Intel will drop it. If it succeeds, AMD will adopt it.
What an awesome pick up line!
De Beers has found its new premium wedding ring stone to part consumers from their money.
Mods, get your shit together.

Saltines, Velveeta, ketchup.
A lot of college students eat this also. Coincidence, or something more sinister?
You're so vain, you probably think this post is about you.
It's probably a survey of Texas legislation from the last 15 years.
I see you have an English degree with a specialization in zombie movies... [burns resume]
