Someone seriously needs to create an app that if you use the "correct finger" an app springs in action and wipes the phone. Using your middle finger to unlock your phone and all the sudden the device gets wiped. :)

So my question is how are some of these local co-ops doing it in turns of starting their own? I mean I am assuming I cannot start digging trenches and connecting all my neighbors but I would be willing to bet I could probably get my whole neighborhood on board if we start a co-op trench digging party if you want in on fiber. I am sure the lawyers would descend on us like a herd of buffalo but regardless I do not see it changing any other way short of people taking back the purchasing power since I know for a fact the ONLY choice I have for cable in my area is Comcast.

Not sure where you were looking, but CAT 5e has gone up in the past year or so actually. Not by A LOT, but some yes. I never paid that much for CAT 5e though. You can get it pretty cheap, between 55 and 70 bucks the last time I looked for 1000ft. CAT 6 is closer to 100 bucks for 1000ft.

Of course that is not in bulk, so I am sure you may be able to find it even a bit cheaper.

For what its worth, I have been using Broadvoice at home for my VoIP for about 2 weeks now. Me and the finace just moved into our first house, and decided I had had enough paying money to the local monopoly phone company for basic phone service with none of the bells and whistles.

So we got Broadvoice and its been working very very well so far. We only got the 10 dollar a month plan, for unlimited in state calling, out of state is like 3.9 cents or something like that. Both we both have cell phones, so if we need to call outta state, we use those.

I have called many people to test out the phone line, and they are always impressed by it, cause its clear!! Very clear. Plus the topper is that we get all the extra features, like voicemail, call waiting, three way calling, ALL those extra things that would make a analog phone line cost 50 bucks a month. Its working out great.

Most VoIP do not charge taxes other than maybe a dollar or so. I know like a $1.30 or something with Broadvoice, so my monthly bill is $11.30 i think.

Thats my 2cents, so take it for whats it worth!
