Obviously no one is going to go to prosco.com, surely not even the PHBs in SCO think that. Perhaps the purpose of this web site is just to dilute the DOSing they're constantly under by giving people more target.
Not that I suggest DOSing under any circumstances...no matter how stupid the recipient might be.
This begs the question of why they thought it was necessary to have the Hollywood stuntman ending (literally), instead of just designing a reentry vehicle with a low terminal velocity and just letting it crash into the ocean for a softer landing.
Corporate migrations are unlikely until someone fixes this bug. You can't surf to a server inside your firewall that uses a NetBIOS name (instead of a DNS name) if you also have a proxy enabled. Very common issue for corporations.
The fix would just be to ignore the proxy when there is no '.' in the server's name. My non-programmer mind would think this is a simple fix, but the bug has been open for > 48 months!

I agree that it's poor UI, but not for the reason you think. Listen up, developers. I don't care if the app pops up and flashes on the taskbar. The UI should never, never, allow focus to be taken away from the user while they are actively using the keyboard or mouse (or microphone, or any input device).
How simple is that? I can't believe we still have this problem after this many years of GUI design. My least favorite is when I'm typing a password and some app desides that it needs attention at the cost of me typing my password in plain text, on a projector in front of a crowd of curious spectators.

It sites examples such as the availability of wide ranging software packages that Microsoft can't hope to provide. Microsoft has to be careful about what kind of application software it ships with Windows.
The major Linux distributions that I've tried don't include a media player for fear they might get sued, don't include a NTFS driver for fear they might get sued... This makes it very hard for people like me, who don't know how to find and compile all the right modules, to use linux. I've tried three times, always ended up frustrated and gone back to Windows. Mind you, I am the top 1% of users. If you can't convert me you are going to have a very difficult time converting others.
Irrationally against Irrational players: Mostly the same as Rational against Rational, lots of pot trading. Will cause wild swings and a very exciting game, but won't generate a lot of money for you.
I've been playing No Limit Hold'em for a while, here's my experience:
The only way to win consistanty is to play rationally (ie. mathematically) against people who are not playing rationally. Not only do you have to beat your opponents but you have to do it with a large enough percentage to also beat the house's rake (a small amount taken from each hand).
But since the house only takes a rake the odds aren't necessarily against you.
There are basically three ways to play:
Rationally against Rational players: results in you winning N% of hands with N being the number of people at the table. You basically trade pots back and forth. If you play long enough the rake eventually takes all of everyone's money.
Irrationally against Rational players: results in quickly loosing your money. You might get lucky in the short run, but you can't continue playing this way for long. Do it occassionally so that people might think you'll make irrational bets and then might call you when you have the nuts.
Rationally against Irrational players: You'll evetually gather all the money not lost to the rake. The only way to make money in the long term. However, you may still go on looong losing streaks.
I still play Hold`em (mostly rationally), but you eventually get to the point where you've seen all the hands. Now it's mostly a grind.
You want a device for taking notes that is not a computer, but has a keyboard? I have the perfect solution for you. It's a bitch to lug around, though.
Kinda funny, but it highlights the stupidity of our patent system. I wonder if I should patent the mold in my shower as a lethal weapon. Perhaps I'll name it SporediferousBillGatesium.
Back in '95 when I started my Blog (it wasn't called that then) one of my readers wrote to me and asked, "What you're doing is really cool, how would I go about setting up a site like yours?". To which I replied, "Don't, do something original." (Roughly...hopefully I was a little more polite.)
is that Coffee appears to lower your risk for Type II Diabetes....not caffine. They explicitly say that it may be the antioxidents in coffee that are responsible. So, put down the Mountain Dew.

I will personally offer to host any pictures, and stories from olympians. We won't tell them who's story/pictures and let them chase their tails.

The rest of my "personal worth" is tied up in my gas tank.
Ah yes, keeping your assets liquid.
Let's see... how many manhours can a consultant charge the PHB to run the following SQL query
alter table VEHICLES modify column VIN varchar(50);
But don't you understand? Haven't you been paying attention? Actually reading the data will crash the database.
There are some clear similarities between genetic code (the blueprint for lifeforms) and software code.
Yes, their cheif similarity is that they both have the word 'code' in them.
Opps, I left out:

Once, while I was in Hell I couldn't remember a phone number. So, obviously, I called the operator. Man, that guy was a bastard.

There's langauage inappropriate for Slashdot? News for me.
Nerd.
Kind of reminds you of heisenberg uncertainty doesn't it?
I find it very amusing that relgion evolves, which it undisputably does. Does that mean that anti-evolutionists are also anti-religion?
Suspected terrorists and violent criminals would be designated as red and forbidden to fly.
Sounds great if you're an airline passenger, but what if you ride the bus?

I am not an astrophysist, but does the phrase, "will be first used to study black holes in distant quasars" have any meaning at all?

... Australia's efforts to control the carp population using a 'male-only' gene.
I don't think that using Male-only instead of Female-only was the lesson we were supposed to learn from Jurassic Park.
It turns out that Bradley A. Buckles wasn't their first choice, but Hannibal Lectur wasn't available.
