The device will be verrry thin - think top half of a macbook air thin. I also can't imagine Apple/Jobs marketing a tablet device without ubiquitous internet access, probably provided by Verizon. Also, you will no longer desire your old device.

I just switched hosting providers to a vps. (note to all: avoid dreamhost if you care at all about reliable email) I've found that using a combination of zen.spamhaus.org, the PSBL and greylisting has reduced my spam from 1 every 2-3 minutes or more to somewhere less than five a day, with no false positives as of yet. (I've been running this setup for 5 days or so) Really pretty easy to set up, and I just like the control of running my own server...

Frankweiler' about a girl and her brother who run away from home to hide in the Metropolitan Museum of Art. highly recommended.

Just for the record, I've had good luck running X-plane under wine - opengl support, sound, joystick, the works. (latest winehq build, you may have to turn sound hw accel off depending on your card) This is using nvidia cards and the nvidia drivers. One might argue that a linux port isn't strictly necessary...

you know, one gets really tired of this kind of attitude. Did you read the article? This is his life's work, and I think he deserves compensation for it. X-plane (versions 6 and 7) is the only software I've paid for in the last 2 or 3 years, and I was happy to do it, because I'm supporting a real person, and getting a (albeit quirky) quality piece of software for it. I'm certainly a believer in the open source movement, I use it whenever possible, and I've contributed some of my work to the community. Anyway, why don't you put your money where your mouth is and code your own flight sim. (Or quit making inflammatory statements like code hoarder)

Couldn't find the poem, but this was funny:

Everyone has heard of Pavlov's Dogs and many have heard of Schroedingers Cat. But what of Shroedinger's Dog and Pavlov's Cats?

Let's not concern ourselves with Shroedinger's Dog, a creature so stupid it has difficulty being in one state at a time let alone in two states simultaneously. When put into a box with a decaying vial of poison which might or might not release the poison, Shroedinger's Dog chewed the vial thus ensuring it ended up in a dead state every time.

Pavlov's Cats is a far more interesting a subtle experiment into feline-human behaviour. Pavlov was a Welsh behavioural scientist who conducted experiments into ringing bells and cats eating food. Went something along the lines of:

Day 1: Rang bell. Cat buggered off.

Day 2: Rang bell. Cat buggered off.

Day 3: Rang bell, but cat put paw on bell so it only made a 'thunk' sound.

Day 4: Rang bell, cat said he'd eaten earlier.

Day 5: Tried to ring bell, but cat had taken batteries out of bell.

Day 6: Cat rang bell. I ate food.

second, it's handy to know that apple-~ will cycle between windows in an application...
