I follow a number of machinist web`sites and the general consensus is that upgrading a manual mill for doing any real work is a waste of money and it's better t spend $20k on a real machine. In fact I read this by a number of people this morning.
I have a sherline 2000, bought it to learn with. It's ok for small stuff but low powered (400w), so don't expect anything fast. I did my own cnc around 95. Stepper motors were cheap then, I don't think 3d printers had much of an affect on pricing; all of the motors that I have are infinite overkill for anything resembling a 3d printer.
I've been saying this for about 10 years now and have collected a few machines. Just last week I was looking at buying a g0704 due to its large user base. Manual machine is ~1.2k$ new and a conversion (diy) is probably another thousand.
I helped a friend in 2009 who had published a book create a wikipedia page for herself. We gave up after 4 attempts of being deleted within literal seconds and despite being a real (not self published) book. She finally got a page around 2011....
I set one up with a raspberry pi for around 50$. Before that I used a PC-104 running debian and before that, a generic 386 computer with a $35 video camera from IBM and RHEL 5.0.. This is a nerd website. It's hat nerds do. Why are you here other than to bring the quality of discussion down?
I naively asked a question to my manager very early on in my career about what happens to all these people (referring to the hundreds of people around us) after we're finished. He kinda shrugged his shoulders smiled a bit and let out an inaudible laugh.
I took a few classes in college with class sized in the hundreds. As for elementary school, the problem was always disciplining the students to not talk, throw things, touch people, etc ad nauseam. That problem was easily solved when I transferred to a private school and the teachers were given the power to put an end to it.
Just lack of interest...from americans in general.
Fat, stupid and happy. Despite all the complaints you read on sites like slashdot, life is pretty good here compared with most of the rest of the world and especially history.

Despair
For being "an epic shitstorm of a film", The Phantom Menace was a financial success, breaking many box office records in its debut.
it's really a Western
No, it's really a WW ][ movie. At least the part that counts.
Yeah, so what?
I love how politics has destroyed slashdot. Just as George Washington et al predicted. Excellent.

What you are implying is that other problems at home and not class size is the real problem.
I used one when I took ground school. but that was back in the 90's.
I've gotten rid of all 'annuities' in my life with the exception of insurance, property tax and food. It's not difficult.

Rand Hhated Libertarians, and conversely, Libertarians hated Ran..
True, but the cost benefit is not there. You could also replace the oxygen with Fluorine. Not gonna happen.
where are the tech stories? And no, I do not own any apple products.
Wasn't bd bought by google last year?
remain in the program doing little work

Now I just don't care anymore.
Or ARINC.
It's been a while, but I'm pretty sure hex would be categorized under mathematics/number theory.

I have an engineering degree and can easily 'out math' or 'out science' any of my teachers through high school level.
class sizes are too large
