I JUST, not 10 minutes ago, got that stupid virus email from the email account I use for Slashdot, so dont think for a second you are safe at this site. Thankfully I read my mail using mutt on FreeBSD.;)
?!? For christ's sake, most cars still dont even come with a CD player as a standard feature, and look how long those have been around. Car companies are around the most fucking cheapassed you can find.. skimp on every little thing they can. It'll be 2030 before something like this is widespread in the auto industry.
Yes but he was asking about a commodity motherboard.. you know when you can go to pricewatch and see a bunch of stores carrying one for a couple hundred bucks like with the intel/amd-based boards.:)

No, I'd rather club him for pimping his website to Slashdot when its so weak it gets slashdotted before theres 3-4 comments posted.
Opennap died with MusicCity going to their lameass Morpheus tool. Who else has nearly the amount of music online, accessable with a napster (or clone) client? I havent found any yet.
Do you really think CmdrTaco and Hemos (and most of the rest of/. staff) actually *read* the postings? I've never seen anyone besides maybe HeUnique post anything in the comments.
Ive tried to say many times that "Funny" posts should not get +5 ratings. Theres a place for humor, and funny on-topic posts are great and all, but +5 posts should be interesting and informative.
I stopped moderating some time ago because I was tired of getting dinged in meta-mod by people with dual accounts for moderating down off-topic ACs and flamebaiters.
IBM really did do something semi-original with this ad campaign. I see the posters plastered along construction sites and boarded up buildings around Chicago too.:) But as small and harmless as IBM's latest publicity stunt has been, if the SF City Council didnt act, it would just encourage everyone to do this. With the number of anti-ad zealots floating around/. how many ads would it take to annoy you, looking down to avoid the billboards wouldnt work anymore because the streets and sidewalks would be covered with ads too!!!:)
How about an xmms plugin reasonably close in coolness to a winamp viz plugin that doesnt suck up 100% of my cpu time and crash after 5 minutes. I have a GeForce2, the latest drivers and XFree, etc, and have no other problems with hardware accleration but I havent seen any good viz plugins at least on xmms's website.... any ideas?
Yeah but the problem I have with that is at least half of the +4 and +5 comments are rated that because they are "Funny". I mean theres nothing wrong with a humorous, on-topic post, but I personally dont think they need to be able to be moderated as high as a truly insightful or informative post.
Just WHAT is everyone's problem with this? No one is saying there will be interruptions in games for a commercial or something. Look around you already, The two games I have for the Dreamcast (Crazy Taxi and THPS 2) are already loaded with signs and whatnot of real companies, and I think its kinda neat, especially in Crazy Taxi to drive around and see KFC, Tower Records, etc in the game. People need to get a grip about things like that. How offensive can this possibly be if they are non-intrusive ads like the ones in Crazy Taxi???
I think IBM has done fine with Linux, making plenty of money from it, though surely nowhere near their mainframe division. RH and VA are not doing well, because like every dot-bomb out there, they used their inflated stock prices to grow FAR too fast for their own good, and they cant afford all the employees, offices, etc that they bought with the money. If they had stuck with a plan and grew at a more reasonable rate, they'd be fine. There is a market out there for open source products and support.
I went last year, and saw a lot of well known Linux companies, but not Redhat or VA Linux? Why would they skip out on a show like this, while all their competition was there, as well as BSD-based competition.
Where was this? I've been to 10 EB stores in three different major metropolitan areas (Chicago, Atlanta and Los Angeles) and the only linux game Ive seen was Quake (I believe it was III), and that was in one store.
I've inquired on the Loki web site as to why they list EB as a retailer but none of the stores actually carry the products, and never gotten a response.

JWZ had a rant that he'd display when you tried to view his site with lynx. Or at least one that he wanted to have if a lynx user viewed a site. A rather funny story about the retro-browsing contingent. Does anyone have a copy of that? I cant seem to find it on his site anymore.....
Because using that command line, you still need to pick and choose the RPM files and download them yourself. The helix, er, Ximian tool gives you everything you need for the packages you select.

Where's George rocks the house! More people should participate. :) Fucking lameness filter, this last sentence is just filler.

Yeah, no Americans have ever contributed anything to Linux or the BSDs.... pffft.
