    i read of a study earlier this week that links diabetes to insecticides. specifically glyphosophonates or whatever Round Up and similar chemicals are made of. go buy some better food with no insecticides or other crap and see if it makes a difference

    it's the same price upfront or over 2 years. no sense in using a credit card to buy it upfront. when apple/att start giving me discounts on the pay cash price, i'll pay cash. for now the best they do is BOGO deals a few times a year which i'm going to take advantage of next cycle

    i've done this. fly somewhere for work but it takes more than you thought it would and you end up spending the night or having to take a later flight

    one time i had a government ticket and just didn't show up and forgot the day i was supposed to fly back. two weeks later Delta gave me another ticket for no charge

    they didn't do it in the 80's and 90's when flying half full planes was the norm. they started in the late 90's when airline tickets first went online and people started to shop by price. after that someone figured out that selling a business class ticket and having that person miss the flight was really losing money cause they could have sold two tickets for that seat.

    and it really took off with Priceline who made a huge business of selling cheap tickets that were the first ones to be denied boarding

  14. NYC a lot of people drive cause large parts of the city have no subway or it's a 2-3 hour one way trip to get there from where you live cause some genius designed the system for almost every train to go through Manhattan

    and the subway is actually controlled by NY State here. the city has very little control over it

    the free market doesn't react in a few days. sometimes things take years to play out. especially with products like tractors which take years to design and test and have a useful and accounting depreciation life of years once they are bought. farmers have to do their taxes like everyone else and major purchases like tractors are depreciated on their balance sheets over many years. and most times you have to finance new tractors so it's not like you're just going to dump your old one and run out and buy a new one like a phone

    i'll summarize

    bland uninteresting characters
    decent first half of the book
    the second half is almost always about space zombies, attacking the enemy base or shutting off alien tech
    long and repetitive like the 20 chapters of frodo walking around mordor tired and thirsty
    stupid plot holes to get the characters in the right places for the finale

    this is why companies have been paying for CDN access for almost 20 years now. these days they also pay AWS. or is that evil too?

    who streams content across the internet without relying on akamai or one of the other CDN companies? Netflix has enough cash to finance their own CDN boxes and the routers

    and how many of them served in Vietnam and paid with the GI Bill? How about ROTC? Boomers i've met who went to college also worked and lived in rat infested apartments, worked full time and ate scraps and didn't get to party like kids today

    You can still get these hand outs by taking a trip to your local military recruitment office. Some jobs you'll get something like $50,000 for college
