WE don't condemn anyone. Had we not existed, who would you blame for that? WE should not have anything to do with that, unless WE are threatened. Your altruist etics, which has been eating the US for the last century is what causes the slowdown of the natural process of liberation throughout the world. If it takes 100 years for Iraq to liberate itself, that's great. But it is YOU, the ones who want to change the world who are destroying it.

  2. Re:Bad Priorities on The Riddle of Baghdad's Battery · · Score: 1

The Greatness of America has started to decline since its involvement with WW2 (or maybe with FDR). The original Greatness was particularly based on individualism, and the reason the US is still #1 economic power is its inertia - the fact that they are still a few selfish people left, who don't concern themselves with other people's business. The parasitisim in the US society led to the US "supporting" other "democracies" (and taking this out of YOUR pocket) and "threating" other "dictatorships" (and taking this out of YOUR pocket, and creating a threat to YOU).

If the US doesn't stop messing up (supporting/threatening) others and stop having "national interests" it will crumble. And this will be the saddest day in modern history, because it is the only country that has ever based on reason, and sadly decided to go back to whims.

In fact, this is valid for over-the-phone purchases as well (anyone ordered flowers to a different state?). If they decide to tax all internet sales, then they should also tax all telephone sales.

Anyone know why interstate purchases are not being taxed? ( No, I am not in support of interstate taxation )

There is a special "independent" agency that has the right to ask police to break into your house if someone reports you are using pirated software.

And since game/internet cafes are at every block, some of the big chains actually have shares in that agency and that way they get rid of the competition (some of each, at least back in 2000, resorted to converting to linux and running it as internet cafe only)

One of the most popular businesses in Bulgaria is the internet cafe business (in some cities they are more common than grocery stores). However, following an incident where seven 11-12 yr. old kids got crushed in a disco, the government decided to enforce minors out of public places in the midnight. The so called "internet and game clubs" heavily rely on minors for their "night shifts" when they offer rates that kids can afford. Also they have decided to finaly enforce the age of alcohol and tobacco (18), because until know, bars and discos would let in kids even under 12 buy themselves cigarettes and alcohol.

    I haven't read such a crap recently,

FreeBSD is advancing much faster than Linux is. Why aren't NetBSD and OpenBSD so successful? Well, NetBSD tries to be too wide and embracing, OpenBSD tries to be too narrow and focused. FreeBSD successfully follows its own path and doesn't try "kicking ass", and "be the best in whatever". It just peacefully creates wonderful stuff, without a rush, and without delay.

  14. It is the use in other software, dummies on IPFilter Clarification · · Score: 3

Clearly, Darren means "Do not make a fork (OpenIPF) and distribute it, it is illegal". But patching, fixing, tuning, porting should be legal as long as you GIVE CREDIT (as *BSDs always did), and as long as you are not making your own version. *BSDs never made their own versions, they just tuned IPFilter for use in the OS. *BSD folks never distributed (a modified) IPFilter without their OS. And that is why Darren was happy about it. Now if OpenBSD try to do that, it would be a violation.

I don't see why everyone is jumping at Darren, his licence is just to say "Hey, if IPFilter is used to enhance your product, ok, but if you are making IPFilter look like your product (e.g. distribute it separately) - don't try it".

Darren is right, IMHO. Because if he let everyone distribute their own fork of IPF people would still blame him for stuff he hadn't done. The job of an OS is to make an OS, not separate small products. And it has been this way, and will be.

Thank you, Darren for making that clear.
