  1. Cost for IT services. on Study: Ad Blocker Use Jumps 41 Percent · · Score: 1

I wonder what advertising agencies spend every year on IT services. I wonder if they are aware that they could severely drop that cost by installing some ad-blocking utilities/hosts files.

  3. This isn't really Uber though. on How Uber Is Changing Life For Women In Saudi Arabia · · Score: 0

This is Uber being a middleman for a limo company that the women would have used (and have been using, according to TFA) anyway. I don't fully understand how Uber is making it easier for them.

In regard to calling the limo companies that Uber is currently using: "...the wait times would be half an hour," says Abukhater. "Sometimes these transport companies would be totally booked. The women would be literally, in some situations, unable to move around the city. Now that we've added this technology layer into the existing transport infrastructure, women don't have to call 10, 20 companies to try to find a driver. They can literally just open up the app. That's why we've seen the growth that we've seen."

Right there is a massive contradiction. If Uber is using existing infrastructure, your wait times are not changed. The only thing they're saving the Saudi's from is having to shop around. Oh how selfless and humanitarian of them!

Why does it still happen? The only time I ever need to use a printer is at work. I had a client ask me why we still print copies of our orders. I replied with "I don't really know" because I really just don't get it. Everything else we do is electronic. We are spending money on paper and toner in order to have copies of repair orders that are stored on at least 6 different hard drives across a wide tract of the earth. Having all these copies on paper is only going to make it easier to burn the place down when they take my stapler and move me to the boiler room.
