    and that her death wasn't related to the competition itself.
    But her death was directly related to the competition. The rules involved contestants drinking large quantities of water while not allowing their bodies natural process to rid itself of excess.

    In fact, it could be argued that the most irrelevant in the article's title is Wii (though I won't make that argument myself) :-)

    The question is: who gave this American the Canadian coin?

    I'm gonna bet that it is the NSA or CIA. They would have far more interest in tracking people coming into the US than anyone would have tracking people leaving Canada. And especially if they were coming into the US from Canada...'cause that's how all the terrorists get in.

    Sorry, but I smell troll. Your post just doesn't make sense.

    I have been able to do my work on either GNU/Linux or XP for quite some time now (except for some CE app development projects). I just cannot buy the concept that a "unix admin" feels that "Windows" fixes usability problems.

    I will admit that this sort of move is risky, but I strongly suspect that this will be good for both his career and his bank account.

    So this leader of a popular software development project goes and gets his name splattered all over the web tied to an account of how strong his integrity is?

    You can't buy marketing like that :-)

    You must provide access to the source code to the person to whom you delivered your derived work. Nothing in the GPL says that you need to provide access to the public.

    You are correct that the genius is that distributing something that was under the GPL must be distributed under the GPL itself. Recursive genius, though some fudslingers call it viral genius.

    Palm OS is a great environment to work in specifically because it is not "feature rich". There is one way to create a button, one way to create a form, one way to talk to various OS services, etc...

    The people I know who "hate" Palm OS coding are either trying to do wonky things that the device was not completely designed to do or they are use to working in another environment and are trying to force their (wrong) model of an OS onto the Palm APIs.

    No, it does not lower the cost of the PC I want to purchase. It lowers the cost of everyone's machine who wants to buy Windows by my paying for a copy of Windows whether I want it or not. MS is not paying them to buy Windows...but they are not charging more for other PC's Windows by forcing me to pay for the OS I don't want.

    In short, I am paying more for my PC so that others don't have to pay more for theirs.

    LOL. But if memory serves, the wording of the question had something to do with the program having to be written in C, leveraging POSIX functions, only listing regular files (not directories nor symlinks, etc...).

    I pseudo-jokingly asked if I could do it in Perl instead. They responded, "once you have been hired, you can use Perl to your heart's content." ... and I did.

    YOu know, I have stopped taking tests.
    Well then, you would miss out the business opportunity our startup is offering (oh, and a job).

    I don't see how you can justify blindly writing off "tests". By your same logic, you should equally write off "interviews" as they are often conducted by people not experienced in interviewing.

    I would say that in more than 1/2 of the interviews I've ever taken, I've ended up having to steer the interview because the person there was "technical" but didn't have a clue how to ask about or delving deep into a person's technical abilities. Ask "do you know how to..." or "have you ever..." does not often get the kinds of information that an interviewer really wants, unless the answers to those questions lead to fuller discussions (which they often don't if the interviewee is a typical job applicant).

    I recommend that you don't blindly write off an interviewing technique. They exist because they can work, but implemented poorly they can be a waste of time. The same can be said for just about anything...
