Browser fingerprinting is quite reliable when you reject cookies. Canvas, Font, GPU, CSS API's are all good sources of identifiable data. Of course if you turn off Javascript *and* Cookies, there isn't much left to fingerprint.

Maybe you need to get a better bank! I just logged into a top 5 Canadian bank and they are using AES-256 with a 1024-bit RSA cert.

It is that simple. Physical seperation is the way to go and since you were willing to buy a machine with your own money, you now get two machines for the price of one. No legal mess, no conversation required, this is the simplist solution.

  5. How is this something new? on More Antennas, Faster Wireless · · Score: 1

I learnt a couple of years ago in Telecommunications class about the benefit of more than one antenna for wireless communications. Maybe the big deal is that products are starting to come out to the market. The technology however, is nothing new.

  7. Just as bad as interstitial ads on New Ultra-Intrusive Pop-up Ads Introduced · · Score: 2, Insightful

This is just like interstitial ads which have been around for ages and pretty much force you to view the ad until you can continue to the next page where the content really is.

Hopefully popup killers will be able to nuke this new type though.

  9. Re:@home fails to get it on @Home Responds to the UDP Notice · · Score: 1

I don't think you really understand what is going on here. @home mail/news servers are already locked down (only shaw@home members can use shaw@home news/mail servers). The problem lies in all the users who have misconfigured proxy servers like wingate on their computer. These proxy servers essentially open up the SECURED news servers for the whole world to use. The only 2 options left would be to disconnect the user with the proxy all together (Very bad idea) or block that users news/mail usage until that user Secures THEIR own system. @home had made the right choice with what they are doing to fix this SPAM disaster, unless of course you have a better way for them to fix the problem.

I totally agree with you here. I think this type of technology can have some very valuable uses if used properly.

What you may ask can be valuable?

Well how about a parent implanting this chip in their young child. Everybody knows that it is a parents worst nightmare that something like abduction could happen to their child. This GPS chip could help authorities retrieve the child before any harm is done to them because they'll know exactly where to find them. And even on the very bad side of things, suppose the child was killed, at least the parents would be able to know this instead of never finding their child and wondering if he/she will ever show up again.

Of course there is the bad side of this technology but i'll leave that up to everybody else to argue about :)

It is just plain stupid to set a age like 18 when there are some 16 or 17 year olds who belong there more then some of the 40 year olds.
