I was trying to show there are differences inherent in delivery systems. When you say X distributes Y code, and mention OSS in the process, there must be some distinctions given. The point I was trying to make is that Mandrake distributes (via the web) 100% OSS software and distributes (via boxed sets) mostly OSS software. Wanted to make you and others aware of the distinction, which may have been nitpicking but nevertheless enlightened someone.

Mentioning Mandrake as a distributor of (mostly) OSS is wrong. Mandrake distributes 100% free code, including their in-house apps like drakx, urpmi, mcc, you name it. The download edition that anyone can get for free (as in beer and speech) is actually that: FREE. The boxed sets include some useful commercial and/or closed source apps (mainly to make life easier, like nvidia accelerated drivers) but overall, their distro and the work they contribute is open and free.

Redhat is another can of worms, however, as is SuSE and the other 'big' commercial distros. They have a few closed-source tools they won't distribute code for. There is more than one way to contribute to OSS so I respect their actions.

The "Mormon" religion doesn't condone or practice polygamy

That's not quite true. The LDS doctrine teaches that polygamy is the natural order of things in the highest level of heaven (the celestial kingdom), that our Heavenly Father (GOD) has multiple wives, and that polygamy will be reinstated after the second coming of Christ.

brigham young: "If we could make every man upon the earth get him a wife, live righteously and serve God, we would not be under the necessity, perhaps, of taking more than one wife. But they will not do this; the people of God, therefore, have been commanded to take more wives."

Mormon Doctrine, p. 578: "Obviously the holy practice will commence again after the Second Coming of the Son of Man and the ushering in of the millenium.(Isa. 4)"

The LDS church history is full of all sorts of uncomfortable beliefs and dogma. The modern LDS church has been sanitized quite a bit to appear as "mainstream christian" as possible, but there is still a lot of these uncomfortable truths hidden there.

Also check out the changes made to Endowment cerimony text over the years. Mormon's can't talk about what does on inside the temple for this cerimony (and other ordinances) but they have extremely similiar links to acts practiced by the Mason's and other occult influences.

Being poor or close to it also has a tendency to keep your ass on the couch. You'd like to go out to a movie or restaurant, but that costs money. You'd like to get up from the computer and go shopping for some new shoes, but that costs money. Eventually your mind gets paralyzed by your lack of funds and you just sit and flip channels. Trust me, this is how most Americans live.

The biggest problem in this country isn't obesity, it's the disparity caused by the widening gap in the classes. The rich are much richer, the poor are much poorer, fattening food is cheap, hence America is fatter.

I guess that depends on friction coefficents changing related to traction loss and weight transfer front to rear. Even if you're going uphill, you still have forward momentum, and in an FF (front engined, front wheel drive) car you have an added bonus of serious weight focused over the drive wheels. FR (front engined, rear wheel drive) cars are at a distinct disadvantage in inclement weather where traction isn't a constant. You do get that initial weight transfer from a dead stop (and with each upshift) but it's not constant and the rear end lightens up once momentum builds. FF cars, OTOH, have a predictable force constantly pushing down over the drive wheels which increases traction and predictability (at the expense of understeer).

I've owned and driven both types of cars and for winter or rain, I'll take FF over FR any day. Of course, 4WD outperforms both categories but that's another story.
