When I saw the "Copyright Control" logo on it, I held down shift when I put it into my drive. That was a good plan, because I explored the CD and found all that CRM crapola in the autorun file.
Ripped it with iTunes. It ripped fine, but VERY slowly. (2x, compared to the usual 16x.)
anything visible from public property except national-security-restricted-places and places where people have secluded themselves to have an expectation of privacy (their bathroom)
If those people wanted privacy, you'd THINK they'd know about bathroom curtains...
Metric paper sizes aren't used in Canada (unfortunately), so howcome whenever I install a printer its config settings always default to A4 sized paper instead of Letter?
Just an oddity. (I didn't even notice until the edges were wrong on some photos I was printing for a portfolio.)
When I went to redeem them, iTunes didn't have any of the specific songs that I wanted. They didn't have any Led Zeppelin songs, so I went looking for some songs off of a CD that my wife wants. They didn't have that either, so my caps didn't get turned in.
Ok, now that's just plain silly. These are FREE songs we're talking about. So they didn't have a specific tune you wanted. What was keeping you from downloading a track from someone you never heard of? (The previews are there for a reason.)
You could have discovered something new that you really liked, without any risk of wasting money. Be a little more adventurous...
Though I wish removable disks could reach the capacity of hard disks, would be nice to use something like norton ghost or similar, and put everything on ONE disk, and store it somewhere.
Scene 10 years ago: Wow! 640MB of removable storage on a disc! I could nearly fit my whole hard drive on ONE disc and store it somewhere!
Not only that, but the developers need to fill them in on the details.
A couple of months ago I did a UI for a water system, and did it in full-screen mode. That's what I'd been led to believe it was going to be. Turns out when we got it back from the coders, my full-screen design had been squished into a frame and looked all jaggy.
Of course, this was also a management fuck-up, because, like everything, it was left to the very last minute. No time to fix it, since it had to be installed the next day. (On really crappy touchscreen industrial PCs.)
The trains that come into the city only do during rush hour (which is good, but it'd be nice if it was at least 18 hours a day).
What dark subway tunnel do you lurk in all day? The GO Trains, brining people all around the 905 into the city, run from about 6am to 12:43am. I use them all the time...
One of the things I love about the ChumCity television family is that they're willing to take risks like this.
While all the other news channels, Canadian and American, were just replaying the same news over and over, CP24 chose to stick with about 20 minutes of continuous live coverage from NASA, with scientists commenting over the phone.
It's heartening to know that there's still a bunch of people in that company who don't think we're all clueless morons.
There also is a tendency for closed-minded people who want to do as little thinking as possible to choose Windows, even though it paves the way for migraines later.
So... because I want to just turn on my computer and use Photoshop, I'm closed-minded?
I don't hate Linux... I just hate Linux zealots. Go back to your dark server room.
I won a copy of the CD last night at a bar.

Step 0: Buy a dictionary.
That's seriously a good thing.
Most programmers can't design an interface worth anything to anyone other than programmers.
I dunno... Keanu Reeves always seemed completely artificial to me. Especially in The Matrix.
You can't tell me his expressionless voice is actually human?
The Spinning Cube of Potential Doom?
That sounds like a tool used by the Irken Armada.
I've got an iPod, but I almost NEVER use it while walking. I tend to use it exclusively on the train or at work.
While walking, or for that matter cycling, I prefer to be tuned-into my surroundings.
Which one is worse?
3-5 years in jail, or 3-5 years in Buffalo?
Well, you could take photos of occupied stalls as long as there's consent... but you'd be a freak if you did.
If those people wanted privacy, you'd THINK they'd know about bathroom curtains...
Someone should have told Motorola that.

Well... they needed a guinea pig.

Can we get a filter in place that blocks out stories featuring fat nerds in tights?
That male "camel toe" is burned into my retinas...
You mean ClearChannel is actually playing songs you haven't already heard 10,000 times?
Did you marry a midget? Otherwise, you'll have to do a bit of work on getting your mother in law down to 10kg.
Of course, in alot of cases, it may just be easier to launch from a country that isn't so uptight.

...and many people here will still bitch about lack of acceptance on the desktop.

I wasn't implying that games require the bleeding edge.
I just meant the low-end cuts-off at a predictable pace.
Why would they bother optimising games for low-end hardware? We all know that software drives sales of hardware.
Hell, look at most of the hot games coming out: they have marketing deals with the graphics card makers.
