I liked it. Like others mentioned, you went for the name, and stayed for the vampire ass-whoopin'. It got rather obnoxious (between the little kid crying on the side in the sunday showing, and some high school assholes that caught up with me. ) that *EVERYONE* double-crossed someone.
And one more thing. Why for the love of cthulu would someone bring an infant to this movie? 30 seconds into it, it started crying! They didn't leave until they were escorted out, half an hour into the show, *argh!*
Sorry, I'm sick, and wanted to vent on something.. Feel free to disregard this post
Said Beth Mitchell, a partner in the Boston law firm Nutter McClennen & Fish
No wonder he lost, he was being defended by a squirrel and a fish...
Actually, the first thing that came to my mind was a MST3k sketch where Tom Servo and Crow play a game of squirrel and some sort of under water creature:-)
DAPCentral is a site dedicated to keeping shows that are going off the air, permanently, without hope of getting DVD's released into some sort of permanent home. Well, more permanent than video tapes, at least. They only capture shows that are out of production, and the producers don't expect to release for sale...
Why can't they do something like this? I'd pay a buck or two to download legally my favorite shows (well, for a MST3k, less for a half hour show)... If they give fast speeds, I bet most people would be willing to pay (rather than deal with Usenet/IRC/eDonkey/Morpheus).
At least very few people live there... Diablo Canyon Power Plant is in a fairly densely populated area (comparatively) and is sitting on top of what is one of the most active fault lines in the United States, that is, the San Andreas Fault system (no maps off the top of my head)...
eDonkey uses a "punishment" method in it's peer to peer networking scheme. Basically, until you're sharing at least 10k/s, you're limited to 4 times your upload speed for downloads... Yes, that means if you're sharing at 0k/s, you can receive at 0k/s. Also, it shares partial files, so, for what it's worth, you are almost always sharing at least a part of a file...
It works really well in small groups (reference DAPCentral ), and from what I can tell, it really makes interpersonal cooperation a lot easier than, say, Morpheus...
Of course, it'll never be as popular because it's not a single central server... That and it's got a linux interface, and we all know that anything that gets on linux dies the next week (as a hax0r tool)...
PS, as for I'm still trying to figure out why it's bad to think people have nothing wrong with them until they tell me their gay... well, if you then switch to thinking that there is something wrong with them just because they are attracted to the same gender, the reason its "bad" is because you're a bigot. But you really probably already knew that...
I'm sorry, that is precisely the opposite of what I meant. CLUH is the organization that had some weird ass meeting that I was forced to attend... Basically, their premise was that they're gay and damn proud of it, and they want everyone to know they're gay, and that they get offended when someone asks about their girlfriend (if a guy) or boyfriend (if a girl). Personally, I don't give a crap, and usually use "significant other" when talking about one, but I don't see the significance of this. I don't walk around saying "I'm heterosexual!", and we don't exchange cards at the beginning of discussions that say "I'm gay, please remember this in your conversation".
As for if I'm a bigot or not? If you say so. I think I have a perfectly healthy view of humans-- Gay or not, if someone tries to ram something down my throat, I'm apt to believe there's something wrong with them...
Possibly the reason I am not with the green party, and don't follow the societal norms of trying to fit in by sticking out.
Just so everyone knows why we're the fastest growing University of California:
Here's a list of some of the interesting classes that are availabe from time to time
Understanding Drugs (Bioc 80) -- Yes, you talk about doing various drugs...
Lesbian and Gay World (CMMU 80F) -- I'm still trying to figure out why it's bad to think people have nothing wrong with them until they tell me their gay... Nevermind, can't remember the group that was spouting that off...
Hope/Crisis Capitalism (Econ 80A) -- I don't know, haven't taken it and don't know anyone who has...
Technothrillers (Film 80A) -- Watching, you guessed it, technothrillers
Intro to Horror Films (Lit 80T) -- Horror movies are your friends... From what I hear you watch a couple dozen horror films (as far back as like the 1890s IIRC)
Beatles Music (MUSC 80V)
Saturday Night Live (Theater 80O)
80's: Film And TV (Film 80) -- 80's: The decade that only one good thing came out of: mst3k Psychophysic Music (Phys 80a) -- I don't know about this one
Muppet Magic (Thea 80L) -- 10 weeks of Jim Henson's Muppets, and why we should all bow down to him... Or something
Queer Theater (Thea 80T) -- It just struck me as funny... I guess it shouldn't seeing as how we have a high proportion of homosexuals here...
Disney (Thea 80N) -- The class I took. The only thing I remember from it is that they used a really neat looking camera setup to do framed shots for their early movies-- Hence why they were better than other stuff from the same era.. Oh, yeah, and my TA (with a speech impediment) saying "nubile" in regards to the Little Mermaid, I think...
And to think, you have to take 2 topical (80) courses to get out of here...

If global warming is going on in two different planets, doesn't this show at least in a small part that humans are not responsible for {some|most|all} global warming? We obviously have nothing to do with Mars' warming trend, couldn't it just be some type of solar phenomenon?
I believe that we help global warming along, but we're in no way responsible for it. Furthermore, I highly doubt there is a "point of no return" like some people are claiming... There may be chaotic weather, and stuff, but the great thing about any world is that it'll go in cycles, and no matter what we do, it'll keep cycling...
We make it too hot, the polar ice caps start to melt. Water level rises, gets hotter, starts to evaporate more quickly, making the atmosphere heavier, and helping to block out more of the sun's energy, cooling the world... Folks, in my mind, we migh be heading towards an ice age, rather than a warm age(what are they called)...
1) I don't have the current figure of people working on *bsd programs in my head, so I put an outrageously large number hoping someone would post the actual amount.
2) No. As others pointed out, most earlier ones task switch.
And I'm on win2k right now, and for some unknown reason *cough*shitty router/NIC*Cough*, I can't use ssh or ssl... My roommate with a mac has no problems...
And the sad part is, the router supposedly doesn't work with Mac OS or Unix...
Think about what they've done in the past couple years:
Nice hardware, growing in leaps and bounds as the market for those things matures (pc133, yes it was late, and yes, it's slower than DDR, but hey, better than pc100), nice processors, removing all relic hardware as necessary (USB instead of ADB, etc). Apple has always done this. Making the powerbook g4 was the next step, making a laptop just slightly less powerful than a desktop, *AND* has a battery life to speak of.
Nice software: OS X. BSD core. No need for them to figure out how to reinvent the wheel with their crappy old OS's--Simply change a few widgets, and call it Darwin, then add a GUI, and Voila! instant OS. With a *LOT* of software available, not to mention the 20 billion BSD hackers, the people that'll keep the Darwin OS up to snuff.
Totally reengineered interface--Finally a command line that doesn't suck! And for that matter, a GUI that doesn't suck! And multitasking! And all sorts of neat widgets that make techies and non-techies alike scream out "I WANT ONE!"
Giving computers to schools, making great leaps in hardware, standardizing their video system. I see this as a incredibly brilliant move for Jobs.
All in all, more power to them... They may live, they may struggle, or they may die. They are pushing the user's into a whole new realm; DVD-R's in affordable systems, laptops that don't suck, and keeping up with technology a lot better than they used to.
After all, they *DID* stop selling any monitors but flat screens...
And hell, they can make them smaller, and in new shapes, they could do a lot of things with the shape, since they aren't limited by the size of the CRT and the heat problems inherent with monitors in close proximity with other computer pieces...
Besides, If the release another "flower power" imac, and you were stuck using it, wouldn't *YOU* want it smaller/easier to hide?

I can think of a few uses for this...
on
This is IT?
·
· Score: 1
for those who didn't read the story--It's engineless, and it's got some (supposedly) heavy duty computing power... Other than the obvious industrial uses, what about students? At UCSC, I find that the parking is impossible, the campus is often too wide to walk efficiently, and the buses are often worse than walking. People use bikes, but since the whole campus is built on a hill, it makes for interesting experiences for non-avid bikers. Aside from that, there is the constant rain and mud, which sprays up and covers your back/backpack.
For students carrying backpacks, this could be useful.
Also, business people going to work, that only live a few miles from where they work. They often drive because walking will make you sweat and the need to look professional/non-dishevelled at their workplace. For that matter, riding one of these things would clear up congestion a bit, and it is virtually unpolluting... I'd love to get one for my work, because 90% of the time, I'm driving around a big ass van to bring a mouse or keyboard to a computer lab that, if I had the leisure of not being on the clock I'd just walk to...
I think it's an interesting Idea, and I hope it is pulled off. I also hope the price comes down so us mere mortals can afford it... Hell, I was looking at an electronic bike for 1200 anyways, I might as well get this, and get more than 20 minutes of 15mph electricity.
They only have non-Rhino episodes... No Manos, no Eegah, but, the great episodes like Agent for H.A.R.M, Hobgoblins, Space mutiny, etc. I could go on, but I'm downloading right now;-).
All are in MPG4, and the guys in the IRC chat are really helpful, in most cases...
I recommend those above episodes, and, well, just ask around, someone will give you more to try if you want;-)
Hey, for all of you guys who love the old MST3k episodes that *AREN'T* getting released:

People are getting arrested for that... Hell, someone at my college put laundry detergent in an envelope and sent it to a friend... They shut down half the frigging school! (well, mail and food services at least). They called the FBI and everything... People are tense from this. Yes, it's absurd, but, well, some people are stupid...
In my opinion this has no bearing on bringing a tupperware container full of dog droppings, or anything *NON* current eventish (nothing remotely identifiable as a white powder, no baking soda either...)
But hell, have fun with it, The worst thing they can do if it's all in good fun is fire you, and, well, if it's an innocent prank, they shouldn't even think about that... It's your stuff... If you decide to bring a tarantula to work (as long as they allow pets), by all means, shove 'em in your bag... I'd warn the guard if you do something that might hurt him...
