The main advantage is that Ubuntu and related distros are user friendly. I do run Ubuntu on a tablet, since it has a decent touch interface, but I've been leaning towards Gentoo for my workstations. I would never expose family & friends to anything so advanced, they'd just panic.
Don't worry, support is improving. Debian multiarch and Ubuntu 16.04 beta both have native 32-bit EFI support, clearing one of the biggest hurdles for us fellows who bought Baytrail tablets hoping to install Linux.
I got a refurbished T100 for $120. And it runs Ubuntu pretty solid (16.04 development version) and has a pretty interface. Can't say that about Windows. Windows kept freezing up randomly.
This might be the only time ever that the government could do better than industry. Internet is a utility, folks. It's like rural electrification. Could we let the rich have solid fancy electricity while leaving the rural with flaky and slow power? Nope. Same argument for Internet.
Other organizations using the acronym "NSA" (according to Wikipedia);
National Scrabble Association
National Stuttering Association
National Sports Academy
New Syrian Army
Norwegian Shipowners Association
National Speakers Association
So, next time your friend goes on about how much he hates the NSA for collecting his phone records you can say this:
"Why are you so concerned? They're probably only recruiting new members. After all, stuttering is pretty obvious."
"Wait, what did you say?"
They were commies. No such thing as a right wing commie, they're all leftist. Stalin promoted divorce and abortion if I recall. Nah, the only remotely peaceful/justified liberals were classical liberals, now known as Buisness Republicans, Libertarians and Conservatives. Why did you think lefties don't like the term "liberal"- it has conservative connotations.
The difference between sugar water and super clarified apple juice is pretty marginal. That's why the 100% stuff is still sweetened, it's a scam more or less. A marketing gimmick.
Nah, it's because of excessive radiation fear. Most of the Fukishima refugees were fine where they were. But the maximum radiation dosage is way too low. Nice chart here:http://xkcd.com/radiation/
The ocean is big. I mean huge. Massive. A little mineral exploration isn't going to harm it at all. And as for land based deposits it would be more accurate to say that most easily mineable deposits are being used up- there are still many, but things like rocks, national parks and civil wars get in the way.
I know. The main barrier to this is how fast you could clock the fiber (effectively). If you could push it even to a few gHz it would beat copper. The question, of course, being over whether or not your silicon-fiber converter could run that fast. If it's possible it could solve a lot of issues, especially since HyperTransport and similar copper-based tech is nearing the limit.
I suspect we may be nearing the end of DRAM, though only time will tell. DRAM is old and really a bottleneck these days, something is likely going to replace it. At the very least in the next few years the form factors will change from DIMMs to perhaps HBM stacked on-die and fiberoptic DIMMs. At least that would be my next guess, anyway.

Maybe once they finish adoption of the evil bit.
Either nobody carries a gun or everybody does. In between is asking for trouble.
I'm just happy 16.04 has native 32 bit EFI support, something all of us with Bay Trail Atom tablets have been waiting for a long time.

Probably was lucky enough never to get mugged with a knife.

Not with 3D printable plastic guns. And it doesn't work on crossbows.
You forgot that Cruz is going to be backed up by the Texas militia and the NSA (not that one, the National Sheriff's Association.)

Congrats! Only a hundred more years of this and you will produce about as much power as one nuclear reactor during the daytime. When it's sunny.
I never got the 4K phone thing. Relevant xkcd!! https://xkcd.com/732/
I'm picking up LGA 1155 hardware new for a hackintosh system. There is a very small difference between Sandy/Ivy Bridge and Haswell/Skylake.
I think soldering RAM is cheating. Used to be you could just plug in a SODIMM, these days you pay $50 to go from 4GB to 8GB.
What did you think the FSB was for?

Perhaps they needed a canal expert?
If I recall, though, Infiniband is still copper.
