A perfect being would love unconditionally, instead of demanding reciprocity.
God does love unconditionally, and demands nothing in return. But if you break the rules, you won't be allowed to be with God eternally - them's the breaks. Of course, we've all broken the rules, so God made an exception - a free gift, take it or leave it. If you accept it, you get a clean slate, guaranteed. If you refuse it, that's your choice - but that means you don't get to be with God eternally, not because you refused the gift, but because you broke the rules.
Does that make better sense?
If eternal separation from God doesn't sound like a bad thing to you, then you are under no obligation to accept salvation through Christ. When Bible-thumping Christians say you're going to Hell, I encourage you to remind them that Hell simply means eternal separation from God, and since you accept that fate, you don't need what they're offering.
IF we assume we have free will because of God's love, then our future is unknown and not yet fixed. This by defintiion removes the ability of God to know the future...
Not at all. You're thinking about time from a linear perspective. God created time; God exists outside of time. God can see all points in time simultaneously. God doesn't stand here at this point in time and look forward in time to see all the choices you are going to make, because yes, that would mean that from the perspective of this point in the present, those future choices are fixed. Rather, God looks down on all of history, from above, seeing all of the choices you make in your life, whether past, present or future. God sees all of your choices together, regardless of when you make them, because God exists outside of time.
thus rendering him omnipotent.
Um.. you might want to check a dictionary on that one.
IF we assume God is omnipotent, then we do not have free will, because God's knowledge of the future pre-supposes our actions and we assumption #1 is therefore violated.
God's ability to do things doesn't require that he actually do those things; just because he could control us doesn't mean he chooses to. Or perhaps you're confusing omnipotence with omniscience? Just because God sees your past, present and future all together doesn't mean your freedom to choose for yourself has been taken away.
Please,
Dont back away from your faith now. Christians deem themselves the dominant religion on Earth [...] Religion is the most dangerous concept to the minds of rational men worldwide. So hold your faith dear do not stray from your flock lest you find a mob of christians outside your door screaming hertic and sinner.
Thanks so much for not reading the comment you replied to. Let me repeat it for you:
Please do not group all Christians into the same category as these people. Not all Christians believe that the government should be used to force our values down others throats. Besides, this isn't really about Christianity or religion, it is about power and the ability to control people.
Hell, if these people in congress really believed what they say they believe they would act and vote differently.
For the record, I'm a Christian, my shelf of Bibles is less dusty than much of the rest of my house (although somewhat more dusty than the shelf of O'Reilly books below it), and I voted for Kerry.
Nah, when they capped the limit at 50, that pretty much ruined it for me. I was just getting good at it, honing my technique, got my karma up to around 75 or so... then had to slowly watch it dwindle back down towards 50, until one day - the final insult! - they hid the number altogether, replacing it with simply "Excellent". Bah!
Don't show it, don't talk about it, but the porno business is a multibillion dollar industry.
You might be on to something here.
If sex wasn't so taboo, perhaps porn wouldn't be a multi-billion-dollar industry anymore? Think about it - porn might not be so appealing if people were more open about sex. If that's right, then whoever's profiting from that multi-billion-dollar industry has a vested interest in maintaining the taboo....
Actually, isn't it legal in most states to get married at 16, with parental consent? Presumably it's also legal to have sex with your wife under those circumstances? But perhaps not legal to take pictures of it?
Also, they would have to port Quicktime as well, I would guess.
This is a key point. A proper port of iTunes to Linux would require a proper port of QuickTime to Linux to be done first. And of course, that would be wonderful, because then it becomes much easier to port applications which rely on QuickTime, and would put an end to the hassle of dealing with trying to get proprietary codecs to work in an open source media player - you could just write an open source media player that called the QuickTime APIs.
Unfortunately, porting QuickTime to Linux would be a pain in the ass. As another poster mentioned, QuickTime for Windows includes a fair chunk of the Carbon API, which is why porting iTunes (a Carbon app) wasn't that difficult.
If I say it hurts.. it really hurst! it's not mental!
That doesn't mean the cause of the pain isn't mental. If they don't believe you when you say it hurts, that's not the same issue as believing that it really does hurt but there is no physical problem.
You can set up a company and build your products, but it's illegal to sell those products in the United States (possibly illegal to import them at all, I'm not sure) and various other countries, so that cuts out a substantial portion of your potential customer base. If you think your business will be viable anyway, go for it.
As for my non-computer desktop....it's been declared a Superfund site, and the EPA guys will be along any time now with the hazmat suits.
Fortunately for you, the Bush administration has cut the funding for that, so you have nothing to worry about. Fortunately for both of us, actually, since my desktop looks about the same.
And I have "snap to grid" turned off, so my Mac OS X desktop looks even more cluttered than yours.;-)
I've seen an app that needs root access to run; it asks you for your admin password and offers to store the admin password in the Keychain so it won't have to prompt you for it again. And I've seen plenty of installers that use their own authentication dialogs instead of the standard OSX ones, although they look very similar. So yeah, I had assumed this was correct - if the app has an admin username and password, it can just pass these to an API to gain root privileges without user interaction.
Anyone familiar with how this works feel like adding details or correcting misconceptions?
heh, I thought I was the only one who remembered that. The Java AIM client became QuickBuddy though, which I'm sure many people do remember (QuickBuddy has since been replaced by AIM Express, although QuickBuddy is still available as well).

My guess is that MySQL will decline now that PHP uses SQLite, and that PostgreSQL has so much more speed, stamina, strength and beauty.
Do I remember hearing that Apple's Searchlight feature in the upcoming Mac OS X 10.4 ("Tiger") uses SQLite as well?
Elrond should have taken care of the business once and for all.
If Elrond, or anyone else, had killed Gollum when they had the chance, all of Middle Earth would have fallen to Sauron.

Is this really that difficult a concept? Really?
Thank you.

The report was done weeks ago, but I'm still trying to get a cover sheet put together before I turn it in.
That most of science does not agree with the church is entirely because the church's claims are supported by little to no evidence.
Groups working to fix this problem include Answers in Genesis, the Institute for Creation Research, and the Creation Research Society. AiG and CRS both publish peer-reviewed journals.
If I were offered a drink that was 90% fruit juice and vitamins, and 10% stricnine, I would choose not to drink it.
What if somebody told you it was good for you, and refused to tell you what was in it?

Netcraft confirms it, Google is dying?
Enjoy your job, make a lot of money, work within the law.
Because this version is only a number bump and a fix to mod_include, I'd be doubtful as to whether this would affect mod_ssl at all.
I'm sure you're right, but that number bump would be enough to make mod_ssl-2.8.21-1.3.32 not install without fuss.
So much worse than the Windows taskbar where the visibly depressed button is not necessarily the currently selected window.
This has been what I consider a bug in Windows since 1995. Why the hell has Microsoft never addressed it? It's not exactly rocket science...
Apple used peltiers on the Powermac 6100... those PowerPC 601 where hot !
Got a link to back this up?
