Actually, this all sort of makes sense, and looks very promising. Sony wisely alpha tests its PS2 Linux in Japan, where most of the engineering is done. After major developmental bugs are worked out, and exploring the potential Sony licenses the TiVo technology (also Linux based) for the next seven years.
Now granted, just like most huge companies the PS2 division is likely far removed from the TiVo Sony folks. But the 40HDD is just begging for PVR functionality and you can bet there are some Japanese engineers that are already chomping at the bit.
I give it three months before someone has their PS2 hacked with TiVo functionality.

It sounds to me like you met two cops who were doing their job. Granted, some latitude would be expected in normal times, right? I'm guessing things aren't normal in Manhattan right now. It sounds like you were cool about the whole deal (smart) and will likely get off scott-free.
Shit is a bit different now. Things may get back to "normal", whatever the hell that was but that particular episode sounds like no big deal. It's when your liberties get seriously stomped on I have problems.
And before someone tries to say it's an incremental process, it really isn't. Deal with it until it either gets worse or goes away. Better yet, work with TPTB to form it to your expectations.....
Chuckle. Yes indeed, you can never move. Well you can, but it's a big pain. I have one of the biggest Anthro carts and have moved twice with it. Functionally, it is the best piece of furniture (for any use) I have even owned. It also it truly indestructable, and has survived two moves without a single dent or ding.
Downsides: Yup, it's really, really heavy. I took a long time to assemble this when I bought it (you assemble this piece upside down) and almost killed myself trying to right it when complete. Also, the supplied allen srewdriver tools are of low quality. Sort of a one-use deal. I'd like it if they supplied a higher quality tool. That would make it easier to move, since people are discouraged from disassembling the piece.
Somewhere in my filing cabinet I have a diagram of the method we used to get the Anthro into our home office, for when we end up moving again.
>... but from all the stuff I received over the weekend, I noticed it's just the name of the document it uses... the actual content is the virus itself; an executable disguised as a document...
I got it too, as a supposed.doc file. But when I opened it in a hex editor there was indeed what looked like legitimate content. Don't be too sure it's not a privacy concern.
Sometime a long time ago (1998) I opened a bug to request multiple sigs. You can add your.02 to it at the following URL, if you'd like:

EXACTLY. Because it is Fun. I went to the Demons game as well. So did three of my friends, coders all.
We're we expecting a game of NFL quality? Of course not. We were there for the spectacle, and certainly not disappointed. The fact that our team one at the last second was pretty damn cool too.
And Pac Bell Park is one really nice place to see a game, and it was a gorgeous day.
NASCAR doesn't allow telemetry inside of their cars, AFAIK.
Sure they do. Watch the next race from Sears Point, and possibly even Watkins Glen. They'll show on-board shots of the drivers feet (typically Ricky Rudd, since he seems to demo the heel-toe driving style the best) and they'll simultaneously show throttle position, MPH and brake pressure. Same with some Super Speedways.
Whoops. Back in my NASCAR closet again.
An AFM motorcycle racer, stuck at home on a race weekend recuperating. Damnit.
It's enlightening to hear that he seems to understand the technology. It's also unfortunate to see that he doesn't understand the impact, and would rather try to fight what is way bigger than him rather than try and work with it.
His and the bands loss, unfortunately, in the end.
Alrighty then. Clearly you have some serious issues you need to deal with. Perhaps seeking therapy is the proper option? Or is there a closet door you have yet to open? Who knows.
However, you sir, are acting like a 14 year old, and may want to wise up a bit before spouting off in a public forum. Some of the same people who read here may one day interview you for a job. Maybe even be the folks who you approach for a mortgage.
My simple advice? Don't be an asshole. Pretty "straight" forward.

Hmmm. Then I guess you have a problem with Slashdot? Or do you hide your head in the sand and just read it at slashdot.com instead? chuckle...
Ding! I'm right there with you at 1280 days. I may not be the fastest, but I'm damn persistent.

You need to get laid. This has been going on forever, in many conventions. Get over yourself, and drop by Mitchell Bros. if you need a fix.
All Your Sperm Are Belong To Us. (oh jeez, please mod this down...)
Careful. You're just begging to be put on his worst-dressed list.

So far, I'm digging the XFL.
Slashdot wasn't very "big" when the book was written back in 1997, early '98.
You aren't kidding. I've probably got at least 15, most of which aren't on geekt.org

I have one question:
Did you ever get rid of that horrific mullet?

No, the vast majority of people use IE because it came preloaded on their computers.
