anyone else think its a tad funny that a security update introduced this vunerability? ok... so you release a security update for this one... but how many MORE holes are you opening with THIS fix?! i can't see how coders keep their jobs are MS.
old games are crappy? OLD GAMES ARE CRAPPY ?!?! son, old games are the only playable games out there. i would take a night of super mario bros, conta, life force, etc over a decade of whatever the latest run around in 3d game is.
5 posts so far, and 3 of them are of the "I WANT TO PARTICIPATE IN A SCO.COM DDOS" variety. people... that is illegal and not the way to win the fight. i'd say more, but i have to go load that virus on my 3 other laptops.

I highly recommend reading a computer architecture book if you're at all interested. It's really facinating stuff.
Have Slashdot readers done any research into the actual effect of using 64-bit pointers in a 'typical' application? none whatsoever. What proportion of a real program's data is actually pointers? none whatsoever. oh... i use java.

someone should inform you that dell's main cost on the systems they sell is the OS. Making friends with microsoft is good business sense.

i heard yesterday that 20% of their gross national product is counterfeit goods including american DVD rips and software titles. if they take out DVD in china, will they still rip american DVDs to their new format? if so, WHAT THE FUCK HAVE THEY GAINED? as the CFO of my company put it, china needs to wake up if they want to play with the big boys in the global economy.
what about downloading from your friends of friends??

isn't the friend of friend code just a single SQL query? restricting access to data reports based on patents as a business model is dumb. actually, i think i'm going to go patent that now.
