Some of the best films of our time have been shot on low budgets. They require little or no special effects to achive their purpose, and instead rely on the talents of the director, editor, actors, scriptwriter etc...
Real suspense is built in the mind not in the CG studio.
I think they're missing the point... the people who spend hours online playing everquest are undeinably hardcore gamers. The people who play the sims are people like my little sister, who enjoy a half hour bash at it, but dont take it anywhere nearly as seriously as some people do an RPG or FPS.
People that don't read the source code arent the sort of people who are likely to rember names IMO. (Or care about names generaly for that matter)
Also doesn't this proposed license contradict the definition of a freesoftware license?
And your point about stallman is probably not a good example. He is one of the very few developers that are well known and have got a big reputation in the opensource community.
What Reiser was saying is it would be an incentive to smaller developers to contribute stuff if they thought that someone somewhere would randomly see their name splashed on the screen. I think I'm inclined to disagree with this basicaly selfrightosness
Why use DSL? Why not use ethernet? That way people within the building get 100mbit/sec connections to each other. Switches are dirt cheap these days (especialy compared to dslams) and if your building has good ducts it shouldnt be too hard pulling the cables.
People living in rural areas tend to have telephone lines which have more in common with a peice of string and two tin cans on either end than anything which will achive anything vaugely near the theoretical limits of the line/modem
I really dont see why everyone seems to think intel machines are more stable and AMD ones. They arent as far as I can see. (Unless your running windows when possibly intel might seem more stable) All my AMD machines are solid as a rock in terms of stability
I dont like sports with any serious prizes. It allways ruins the atmosphere when people take it too seriosly. Gaming is for fun, not money, the same with football (soccer) etc.
Prizes of any sort only detract from the fun and lead to bad tempers, cheating and general hostility
Everyone is allready boycotting SCO, and has been for at least the past 5 years :-)
Why do I have a strange urge to try and embed it in an applet?
Im with Piccard on this one actualy
How will my Creative lab's jukebox know that I havent paid my bills?

ok now... that's creepy, you gonna tell me how you did that/who you are???
And im not pretending to be female, its the name i've used for playing games since before quake
Which crack smoking moderator made this "informative"?
They're also known as MSCE's :-)
I thought it was more a case of "Look if you use windows they cant sue you, cos we licensed it"
The first article about this I read made it sound more like Microsoft had Bought SCO/The patents (which isnt too implausable when you think about it)
anyone else notice in the film "antitrust" the ips of the satleites were private, yet they were able to connect to them from a TV station?

network block devices and softraid are the way forward
strikes me that perhaps this doesnt have the best file locking mechanisim in the world...
Hint: If the problem and solution are so obvious get off your arse and fix it
No they wont.. People rember things that are interesting to them and they see a point in rembering.
Will Grandma running kde (or whatever) rember the names she sees on the screensaver? NOPE
Will kids using linux rember the names? NOPE unless they're some way related to the games and chat apps they like
Will professionals (other than computer related) rember the names? Nope, they'll try and turn the screensaver off or to one of their holiday photos.
The only group of people who care what Alan Cox, and others have been upto are developers and geeks. The rest just see software as a tool

Does it support viruses too? Or will they only work in later versions?

Yeah that allways served me well with GNU/Linux, but that isnt really do-able with windows servers is it?
But with Linux servers I tend to find the "install, configure, setup and leave and use ssh occasionaly to check" approach works fine

Still I have learnt from bitter experience that upsetting mac zealots is a Bad Thing(tm)
I think the point is to educate future microsoft employees BEFORE they make mistakes
Why does everyone automaticaly assume that moving stuff into the kernel will result in speed increases??
