They actually added something semi-useful to that dialog - now, you can select when it updates you again, up to 4 hours later. It also doesn't seem to eventually force you to reboot like the XP one.
Exactly how is opening up a file manager and dragging files from one window to another easier than simply dropping your iPod into it's dock and having it sync the files automatically?
I think he was referring to the leaker, NOT the whistleblower. They're two different people. One was a board member blabbing to the press (George Keyworth), the other was a boardmember who resigned out of protest (Tom Perkins) regarding the actions the board (Particularly the Chairwoman, Patricia Dunn) took to determine the identity of the blabber.
In a sane world, Keyworth would be removed from the board, Perkins would get his position on the board back (or even better, promoted to Chairman), and Dunn would be rotting in a cell. Unlikely to happen, sadly.
Wow linux had to wait 6 months to get this driver, it only took XP x64 7 1/2 years!
Yeah, and only the first 6 years of that timeframe was spent waiting for the x64 edition of Windows XP
Microsoft Windows XP Professional x64 Edition released on April 25, 2005 by Microsoft is a variation of the typical 32-bit Windows XP operating system for x86 personal computers.
Oh wait, the linked article doesn't even say anything about x64 support for the Linux 3Dfx driver. So what exactly are you trying to say, again?
* To take advantage of Software Update Server, client computers must be running Mac OS X v10.4 or later.
The submitter stated they're using different releases of OS X, so this'll only help with their 10.4 clients. Though, I think upgrading them all to 10.4 (or better yet, waiting for 10.5 and upgrading the whole organization in one fell swoop) might not be a bad idea anyway, if they can budget for it.
Maybe the process continues to run, it's merely popping up some kind of window from time-to-time. I'd look through task manager for any processes that don't seem right. Google for the process names if you find anything suspicious.
Or maybe it's just Messenger showing you when someone's logged on:P
A Sunday release? 2 days after PS3... that seems EXTREMELY risky to me, if not foolhardy.
I dunno about that. Sony's not going to have many units, and they'll likely sell out. Nintendo will be there to comfort those poor brokenhearted folks who didn't get their PS3.
Lori Ann Cole is a huge omission too, IMHO. The Quest for Glory games were some of the best Sierra titles during the glory years. Apparently, management folks and chick clans are supposedly more influential than pioneers like Roberta and Lori though.
And later in Thurrott's article he mentions the builtin virus checking -- something previously discussed on slashdot -- this also seems like another market niche MS is conveniently incorporating as part of their OS.... (how about making an OS much less susceptible to this in the first place?).
Does it? It sounds to me like MS is leaving AV OUT of Vista.
From TFA:
Anti-virus and Anti-spam
Windows Vista's antivirus and anti-spam features are particularly embarrassing because of Microsoft's stated focus on security in Windows Vista. Oh, and because there aren't any. To get this kind of protection, you'll need to pay Microsoft $50 a year for Windows Live OneCare which, while admittedly an excellent product, should also just come free with the OS that caused the problems in the first place. Obviously.
ThinkFr33ly posted a list of new features, not a changelog. If you got ahold of an actual changelog of XP->Vista, it'd likely be the size of a phonebook.
Those were also merely features ThinkFr33ly was interested in, not a comprehensive list of new features.

Well, if you want to choose a colour, you'll be waiting awhile. The Wii is only going to be available in White at launch.
That doesn't say anything about them cutting the price outside of Japan, it merely states what the Japanese price is when converted to USD.

I don't know what it means in English, but check out what it means in Canadian French :)
More like "HP: Indicted"
HP stopped inventing long ago (before adopting the "Invent" tagline, actually). It's time for a new slogan anyway.

Where can I find these Swedish webcam chicks?
I'd suggest 99% of them aren't worth the trouble...
There's just one problem with your solution:

Not to nitpick, but wouldn't that be "Snake's on a Wii"?
Isn't that what editors are for? To check facts, grammar, etc.
:P

Here's One. I assume the specs are out there too, as there are some open source AAC projects, like this one.
Not to mention DRM has nothing at all to do with decoding AAC. Don't confuse AAC with iTunes' Fairplay-protected AAC files.
Not "we make a good product, try it :) " but "PCs are for stupid old losers like this guy... you will buy one!"
Another interpretation of those ads would be "Our product is better than a PC"
If I had started out with an iPod and my collection of ripped CDs was all AAC files, I would be locked in to players that play AAC files.
Or, you could re-rip your files. Or you could've ripped them into MP3 in the first place.
Dell's situation is totally revelant (at least spell the word right moron).
Uhh....

If you listen to Steve Gibson's latest Security Now podcast
Steve Gibson is a fucking moron. Nobody should listen to him. Ever.
It's definitely a USB network part, the MacBook doesn't have ExpressCard slots, only the MacBook Pro does :)
