Cesium is due to be released by the end of the year for free, bundled with approximately 200 software applications including HTTP, FTP, NNTP and SMTP servers; a fully functional office application suite; graphics and audio software; and four video games including CesiumQuake.
What is this office suite? A completely new one? Will it open my MS office files (and not suck at the same time)? Last time I had an office suite that I liked that wasnt on Windows was ClarisWorks 4 on a mac with microsoft file translators... and even that was only barely tolerable:)
This reminds me of when I (or just about anyone else i know) see upcoming traffic: I'd take the longer route, because even though it may take longer, at least Im moving and not sitting around waiting.
Basically, what it comes down to is that when using a mouse, it feels like you have to do alot of nothing to click a button, whereas at a CLI, you can just start typing and get it done.
My PS2 has been giving me SERIOUS trouble with Disc Read Errors, ever since I played GT3a for the first time on it. It takes approximately 1.5 hours each time to get it started, so I leave it on almost 24/7. When I called up Sony, they said it was BECAUSE I was leaving it on so much, and since its out of warranty, I'm SOL (i refuse to pay $200 for them to fix a manufacturing defect.)
Anyhoo, it sucks. I guess my only recourse is to go buy a new one, swap it with my old one, and return it. Dishonest? Well, shit if I'm gonna be stuck with a defective unit. I just hope it gets sent back to sony and not pawned on some poor sucker...
Those workers could also be running cells, which wouldn't necessarily mean that they need to touch the parts ever, just set the machines and make sure they stay running properly. I don't know. I read it in a book, the title of which I forget the name. I'll post it once I can find it.
Recently for a client it was requested that I give him a new switch to replace his A/B monitor switch, so I went out and got a Belkin 2-port ps2, thinking that I could use a PS2 -> serial adapter for the mouse and a PS2 -> AT adapter for the keyboard. Keyboard worked fine, mouse did not. I made sure to use a mouse that worked both PS2 and serial, but no matter where I put the adapter (right next to the kvm, right next to the serial port) I couldn't get it to work!
Alright, maybe your right, disposable digital cameras make japan wierd... those other things make it creepy. That and the old man I saw on the Hanzoomon line reading Rapeman comics.
Well, in watching my younger brother and sisters chat on the internet, i can tell you that they all already know the ones they want to use, which is pretty much limited to cya, wtf, rofl, lol, brb, and ttyl... figure they would never say for what its worth, be back in a bit, in my humble opinion, and away from keyboard in meatspace, so why would they say it in cyberspace? One thing im surprised about is the lack of "stfu" adoption. And IANAL.:)
"In my Finance course, I learn how to balance a corporate stock portfolio, but I have no clue how to start a business or pay my employees.
Thats what Entrepreneurship classes are for.
In my System Analysis & Design course, I spend 3 hours constructing data-flow diagrams, entity-relationship diagrams, and Ghantt charts for programs that take around an hour to code!
You didn't learn the old adage that the sooner you discover problems the less money you spend, so time spent designing a better product leads to *gasp* a better product? Who would've thought that in an Analysis and Design course you'd be spending most of your time Analyzing and Designing! You should take some programming courses if you just want to code... although most of my CS classes require hardly any actual code writing, they just assume you're a good coder and work on the abstracts.
In my Management course, my professor discusses techniques for being an effective CEO, but I don't even know how to manage a few subordinates, much less an entire company.
What, no Organizational Behavior classes? Man, your school sucks!
In my MIS course, we learn about client-server technology, but when I ask if my peers have tested their web pages on Macintosh, they reply, "Why would I have to do that?" Most of them don't even think of Linux as an operating system, but more as a hacker's toy. Well, here you may have a point. Then again, if a school doesnt give you a decent degree, then the caliber of students it attracts can't be that high...
Don't most "big picture" lessons come with experience, through person's journey from entry-level employee to a skilled IT/business professional?... Does the average entry-level IT person need to make the sort of decisions a CEO or CIO needs to make?... Knowing the big picture is good, but how do you get to that level if you don't have any skills?
I think you're missing the point of uni. Seems like you're looking for more of a vocational training... I suggest you go get your certifications. Business schools especially want to give you a much much much better start in the world of business than someone who majored in philosophy and figured out how business works on the fly. For example, in my Software Engineering class I'm at a tremendous advantage because I've taken that Systems Analysis and Design class, and can model processes... The organizational behavior class helps too, because I make sure people work together well and can fix problems before they arise... Too bad only grad students can be the project leaders in the class... Not that I'm looking for any extra work, just credit:)
You don't wonder aloud what McDonald's does with your cash after you buy a Happy Meal, do you? And if you don't like it, you don't give them the money.
Big difference here: Firstly, happy meals are consumable, so a happy meal will affect you for maybe a day (including digestion) and cost less than $5. Schooling costs ~25k or so and affects you for a lifetime.
You can avoid backdoors, but you can't avoid the law (or so the reasoning behind the backdoor goes...) but anyway your points are all pretty valid. I'm just curious how #4 could be done... the XOR data (vector) would have to be almost as big as the unencrypted plaintext! How could you transmit the vector without letting the bad gov^H^Huys know it? It would change with every message.
that finally, after only a century, the textile industry is recieving advances from the field it spawned.

Could you back this up?
Also, how long does this warranty apply?
ooof...

What about Lexus? Their factories are all fully automated.
There's a Rapeman movie?
Sweet.
You think THIS is waht makes japan wierd? Not cars with emotions or robotic cats with lifelike skin?
Alright, maybe your right, disposable digital cameras make japan wierd... those other things make it creepy. That and the old man I saw on the Hanzoomon line reading Rapeman comics.
Why not just get some friends? Its cheaper.
How does that traffic analysis work? could they invest in their own routers or something and solve the problem?

Why not just encrypt across internet2 or something? i really don't understand why everyone is crying pearl harbor about everything anyway...

Good thinking though.
Easy way to remember where the door is:
Order a pizza; listen for pizza man knocking to find the door.
..is 9-11.
Scary stuff, huh?
You think 3-day old pizza is going to get eaten?
More likely thrown out.
