It is not a full on competitor to the Gimp but I do see it cutting into some of the Gimp's "market share" on the Windows platform. Alot of people install the Gimp on Windows because they need more functionality than MS Paint provides rather than because they need all the functionality the Gimp has.
The site is Slashdotted so I can't get the download, but if this program does a good job handling the middle ground between MS Paint and the Gimp then I can see it taking away a few users.
If you look at picture 5 and 6 in the slideshow, you'll see that even the lowest level apartment is a few dozen feet of the ground. So all the tenants get a view of something besides the street.
If you have an iPod, you obviously own an Apple product, thereby making you a customer of Apple.
Apple's move isn't about helping their customers. It's about stifling competition from Real. Competition is good for customers and if Apple were really pro-customer they'd modify iTMS to address its disadvantages to Real's offering.
Do you mind sharing how you did this? I forward all of the spam messages I get that make it past SpamAssassin to Spamcop and at least half of them end up having links to websites hosted in China. If I could add a score just for that I'd probably save me a few minutes each day.
It has to send Google your URL for every page you visit in order to update it's "Page Rank" meter. You can turn this off in "Privacy Information" dialog box though.
I've downloaded several things via download.com and have never seen an instance of download.com adding spyware to something. Do you have any examples of downloads where this happens?
I feel your pain. Every blog story here should be prefaced by why exactly we should care about the blogger in question. Something like:
You should care because author... ( ) Was on Star Trek ( ) Is a Linux kernel developer ( ) Is a Mozilla developer ( ) Is a hot girl ( ) Has pictures of hot girls in their blog ( ) Other (you should not care)
It's still a bit clunky compared to other webmail providers. There is no "empty trash" option to delete the whole lot at one time. You can to check each email you want deleted. You can hit the "All" link to check all of the emails on the page and hit "Delete Forever", but if you have more than one page's worth of emails to delete you'll have to do this multiple times.
Hopefully an option to delete your entire trash folder in one go is in the works...
That's a good point as well, I didn't think of the amplifier. I can see this type of speaker being more useful for rear speakers which don't carry the same workload as the front speakers and subwoofer would, so a smallish amp would be fine.
Rather than having each rear speaker have its own power cord, you could have a small mini-amp that receives the signal and sends it to the two speakers via regular speaker wire. Something like that could probably be small enough to be tucked behind or under a sofa and would still save the hassle of trying to route and hide wire around a room.
I have electrical outlets on all my walls but only one set of speaker connections at the receiver. If I have to pick between a power cable or a speaker cable, I'd pick the power cable that needs to have wire run to a plug on the same wall over a speaker cable that needs to be run all the way around the room.
I heard there will be an expansion pack were you not only have to feed your GTA character, you also have to purchase various household items with various stats such as "Hygiene", "Environment", etc. and your GTA character will have several meters showing what his mood is related to each of these values. If your GTA character's mood falls too far, he will simply refuse to pop a cap in someone and instead make a puddle on the floor and/or set himself on fire.
HP already sells "iPod tattoos" for their HP branded iPods (though I don't know why they wouldn't work on the Apple one). They're basically stickers you print out and then apply to your iPod.
One of the biggest obstacles about learning to "heal-toe" is thinking you actually have to use your heal and toe, which for me at least was uncomfortable and difficult to get right.
I place my foot in a normal position but have it right between the brakes and gas. The left edge of my foot is on the edge of the brake pedal and the right edge is on the edge of the gas pedal. This was far easier for me to deal with:)
What makes you think MS isn't going to issue a fix for this? Everyone seems to be overlooking this part of that sentence:
There's no patch
yet, but in the meantime Microsoft is telling ASP.NET developers they can rewrite their applications to prevent exploits.
There is a patch coming, but it's not available yet. Application writers can (and should) fix their applications to address the issue until the patch is available, but those who can't or don't want to won't be unprotected forever.
Registration is free but you still have to provide credit card information. No thanks. I can get in using that catalog link from the first post but I couldn't find that link myself just going to http://www.emusic.com and browsing around. So, for now, I have to agree with you and say I'm not planning on signing up yet.

Before the WWW, spiders use to spin spidergophers.

Yahoo is back to using Google. See this story.
If you look at the search results from Yahoo and Google they have more than just a passing resemblance.

I haven't been able to load Suprnova for the past couple of days. I'm sure Slashdot isn't helping but it seemed to be dead or dying beforehand.

If you want to be really safe, fire up that copy of VMWare you acquired off some BitTorrent site last week. :)

Having the visible checkbox UNCHECKED by default would be opt in.
Opt in is considered by most people here to be the right way to handle things like this. Google is no exception.
So this means I can surf with NO hands on the keyboard? Think of the possibilities.

Windows users will definately want to stick with PHP4. The MySQL support in the PHP5 win32 binaries seems to be broken out of the box.
I for one welcome our 2.2 inch LCD Display featuring VGA Resolution toting overlords?
