    Or I can put 100% of my money to charity, get a tax deduction, and not inflate their numbers...

    Afterwards you can sit in front of your computer and not play the 6 or 7 games.

    The message is 1 > 0.

    As in, some money still goes to charity, you still pay what you want. Even if the Red Cross isn't the best charity, Child's Play is, and $1 > $0.

    Humble set up a system to let people get games cheap and help people in the process, what have you done to help the world this week?

    (Hint, whining here about DRM counts as 0.)

    The people that buy the bundle are greedy, getting 6 games on Steam for as low as $1.

    It was funny in 1995 when the "protesters" were in front of CompUSA on 35th street in Manhattan. It was cute when they were outside PC Expo in 1996. Started to get kinda sad at the Windows 98 launch and went downhill after that.

    Now they're just a sideshow attraction.

    I'll just buy boxes of incandescent bulbs from the illegal immigrant family down the block that brings them in from Mexico and sells them at a fraction of what they had been priced at here before the ban, the same as I buy non-low-flow toilets and shower heads from them as well.

    Good for you. Go drive 56 in a 55 if it makes you feel all gooshy inside.

    Fortunately, the law doesn't say that. It says that incandescent bulbs have to be energy efficient.

    Now go to home depot, buy an EcoVantage or similar bulb and stop whining.

    Mainframe -> UNIX -> VAX -> Other big name variants (HP/UX, Solaris) -> Windows Servers/Linux Servers -> Windows Desktop -> Android/Linux Desktop -> Pancakes Mmmm Pancakes -> MacOS -> iOS

    Remote access to the registry requires elevation. The HOSTS file needs to be R/W by default due to older software that expects it to be R/W. I'll bet I can put an ACL on it that blocks the antivirus app from touching it, I'll most likely break some legacy applications by doing it though.

    Why 'fix' something that isn't broken?

    Because it is broken.

    Malware can easily change the hosts file and screw you up, it's really a hole in name resolution security.

    If Steam went out, I would just download a copy from somewhere else, there's a very Useful Network that might have what I'm looking for.

    As I've been told a zillion times, the software is licensed, not sold and I'm licensed. I even have a receipt hiding in some email archive.
