There's no way in hell I would sit around unarmed if I knew such things were going on around me. I'd be doing my part to make such scum think twice about invading our hometown, and I would hope all my neighbors would be doing the same.
If it came down to having no money and no job vs. driving uninsured but at least being able to make it to work to put food on the table, what would you do? Public transportation in many US cities is terrible at best.
People shouldn't be castigated for breaking the law if they have little means of following it...
What about a closed, invite only VPN community existing on top of the regular internet? And using some kind of stenography to hide the existence of encryption? I'm sure all the internet bogeymen are doing this anyway, making this censorship much more about trying to exert general control over a population than anything else...
I don't know if this makes sense, but the way I see it, we need better tools: vast libraries of stock art that can be freely modified, general purpose game engines (i.e. the same one can be used for fps/rts/rpg/whatever games) that can take advantage of the latest hardware as it becomes available with minimal changes to game specific code, etc.
I mean, where do all the costs go these days? Are these big blockbuster games made from scratch every time or what??
In my naive mind, I always figured many problems with education in the US could be solved if they simply raised the average salary of teachers everywhere so more highly skilled people could consider teaching as a career.
The money is definitely there for such a thing. It's the misguided priorities that's the problem. You all should have seen how well taken care of our high school football team was in our poor, mostly working-class district...
Why would you want to skip out on all the potential tail you can interact with in non-CS classes?
A theater that actually respects cinema.

Film does not have infinite resolution...
