People run Microsoft Windows because it supports the application they want to run and not just the browser. The reason ChromeOS hasn't taken over the business or home market is due to lack of application support including legacy stuff.
If Microsoft strips all the legacy stuff and bits from Windows to get a mean and lean operating system, you have a completely new product with no applications.
I hope you understand that I was joking. I've been waiting years for a Halo release on the PC, and I know Microsoft will never release it on a competitors platform.
I also hate all the buzz words and talk about being more agile, flexible, dynamic, and all that jazz. I'm sure IT personnel all around the world cringe when they hear words like that.

If I were Sony and Valve, I'd say "We'll consider it as soon as you release Halo for the PC and PlayStation." :)

How about they work on getting software updates out to their phones quicker or support their phones for a longer period of time.
As an ex-Galaxy Note 4 user on AT&T, the update for Marshmallow came a year after its release.
