Is there even or why would there be, an offical front or back to these bad boys? They were designed to go in either direction, and have 360 degree cameras for guidance. I don't think they have aerodynamics curves for their blazing, 0.22mph speed either.
Wouldn't this 'lock in' drive up the quality of the code? Keep a consistant user feel?
Submissions from other developers are more carefully controlled. There is a more consistant approach. And yes, one day you might have to pay, but not right now you don't.
You think Google make their money from AdSense? AdWords? etc.?
Google has resorces and expertise beyond most companies, possibly including Redmond.
They have at their fingers the most up-to-date information, opinions, numbers, rantings of most of the world. Do they use this to make income? I bet.
Banks already analize thier data and invest accordingly, Google are bound to do the same. (A la Google news.) With their expertise it is likely to be far more advanced and therefore more profitable.
They don't need dirt. Google can react to the world market before the world knows it's reacting, and well before it understands.
OK that's enough. Time for me to put my tin-foil-nightcap on and head to bed.
I would say that it would benifit Microsofts approach. 'Script kiddie' spammers are much harder to target. 'Smart' spammers are fewer and father between and are much easier to build a case against. Their high profits (and high profile) will make them targets for MS lawyers. If anything, I think the demand would cause a rise in supply of 'script kiddie' spamers as they will not be so easily tracked down.
Is there really ANY reason not to use Linux in an office with the most default installs comming with more office programs on it you could get on a Windows PC in a £300-400 budget?
People need to be able to use what they have. If it takes any learning curve, no matter how small, it will lead to decreased productivity. Windows and the Office suite is a tool used in offices, just like the stapler and paperclips. If you were given the choice between your good old redline stapler and some new one, you'll stick with the redline. Linux needs time to get to be like that. Untill then Windows will be woth the cost to many companies.
P.S. Old ladies use Windows 98. Linux is an answer, not the only one.
1. Why is this not a poll? I guess thats reserved for important stuff.. or has CowboyNeal not written an OS yet? 2. OSX switching from Windows a year or so ago. OSX is clean looks good and works fast, most applications are built to work with Aqua off the bat.. even Microsoft have given up in Windows Media Player of using their widgets, don't blame them. However it creates mismatched apps. Avalon should clean that up.. Didn't want to wait till 2006 to be more productive though. 3. ??? 4. Probably not profit.

In the current experiment, researchers have noticed a trend. Monkeys given a web browser will still look at female monkeys, and also refresh certain pages constantly though-out the day. The research group named WebMonkeys were found to be 50% less intelligent than the Control group. Of the 50,000 involved in the experiment it was found that every monkey exhibited this behavior. The researches can't be wrong. Researches say they do not plan a human equivalent experiment as reference data already exists.
There is OSX's dock. It has its problems but it beats the taskbar. There are a bunch of other apps arround to do more than what you want. (in OSX) Between that, window scaling, transparncy, single menu bar, expose, etc I have found the OSX GUI more productive than windows, with the added benifit of looking more stylish than a 5 year old with a crayon.
No I don't work for Apple and no I don't make anything from their products.
Me too. Firefox screws up under XP and Linux. Mozilla works better under Linux. I don't use Mozilla in XP. IE6 and Safari do fine. Seems to screw up more when a user is logged in too.

Exactly, however.

Seriously, Free Karma?
...then a repost of the Google story.

Love-Hate/.
how are you supposed to do something obscene?
500,000 Highly technical, porn addicted minds are now obsessing over this.
You MUST be new round here.
Sorry had too.
OS XI does look weird, however XP shouldn't be around if Apple keeps this up until 10.9 or even 10.6, given Microsoft haul ass.
What would also be interesting is Longhorn's offical name.

Windows gets fixes from Microsoft...
And the MS Kernel Team
And the MS Remote Desktop Protocol Team
And the MS SMB Team
Etc.
Evidence of many different organisations and or companies does NOT constitute MORE effort.
I am not a Microsoft fan boy.
There is still a layout bug with Slashdot and Firefox.
Don't tell me how to fix it, just fix it.
Thanks.
Someone wants to change something after ages. Some people have a problem with it, some dont.
Shock horror.
Move along.
I heard from another reputable source that they are buying an island too! http://www.googland.com/

Help save Star Trek.
New writers needed.

That is the single most stuck-up, arrogant post I have seen on Slashdot.
C-3PO was just inducted into The Robot hall of fame.
I wanna see bender get inducted.
I'd love to see these on a t-shirt. Especially the anomalous motion ones. I wonder if there is enough detail for it to work.
