    you give them a problem that is not in their problem domain and they will be embarrassingly slow. try playing doom 3 on Blue Gene.

    not bad at all unless you think that results-as-you-type is a bad search engine.

    OS Xs current search is much faster than Windows XPs search.

    ti quit an application using the command-tab task switching, hold down command, hit tab to go to the application you want to quit, hit the "Q" button.

    dude, that is awsome. that would make widgets a real web service!!! screw makign a browser based javescrypt form for peopel to use, just make the javescrypt and it is a widget!!! maybe you should write this gy and he can actualy morph it into soemthing that is totaly over and above Dashboard tot he point of not lookng liek it any more.

    actualy, it is like this:

    little guy working at apple pitches idea for Dashboard/konfabulator.

    project is shelved for the time being as ther eare more important things that need to be added to teh OS First

    Littel guy gets pissed taht his idea was sheleved and goes off on his own to make his vision come true

    little guy makes a crap implimentation that does not take advantage of any of QE and is a huge memory hog while Appel begins to develop the detailed idea internaly for the future Version of OS X that has just started development (tiger).

    Little guy releases product sooner than it was ready to beat apple to market.

    apple anounces 6 months later about their new feature in OS X.

    Little guy gets pissed that his idea that he pitched to Apple back when he was working there has now been used so he goes on a rant about some how Apple stole his idea, even though he came up with it at Apple, making it apple property.

    he is the one that got rid of the fairness doctrine. he is also the one who opened the door to the main stream of the republican party to the Pat Robertson and his Fundamentalist movement that turned out for bush on tuesday en mass since their ministers told them they would go to hell if they did not vote for Bush..

    it is official, OHIO is a states of idiots. they were hit the hardest of any state with unemployment and many other problems and they ended up voting for bush because he is a "Moral" man...

    oh that and the Democratic precincts had 1 voting machine per polling place.... yeah, that will help keep the Kerry supporters from being heard.

    if you heard the Bush supporters calling up, they voted for him because of religion, no other reason.

    so, now that Bush thinks God wants him to be president and he things God is telling him how to govern, we are in deep shit during his Legacy term.

    kind of like Video cassette tapes. strong enough to put up with general abuse from kids.... unless that kid decided that the magnetic tape looked like a good thing to wrap the dog up with.

    so, unless the kid tries to make them into a Frisbee and play with a brick wall, these suckers should be good for use on todays media.

    what are the odds that this will stop a writable disk from being able to take advantage of such resilience?

    umm, well it would make it much less time if they used nuclear thrust on a continual basis half way there and then revers the thrusters and blast them the correct amount needed to get into orbit.

    this would make the trip about 3-5 weeks., and it makes trips to the Jupiter system a reality, not to mention mining the asteroid belt on a full time basis.

    even better is freepops which is a POP3 proxy on your computer that has plugins to login and download all your mail from what ever service you like to what ever client you like.

    makes G-mail much better, as well as hotmail and yahoo mail :-)
