I'm running OS X and I get my Unix stuff with fink. Anyway, when I check the man page for dc, it describes this calculator that you're talking about, but when i actually run "dc" it seems to be a different program.
Can you explain to me how to use dc? Give me a simple line of text to test it.
Okay, okay, I understand now. Some post further on explained that it's 11Mbps TOTAL in both directions. Or, in other words, as he put it, 5.5 Mbps Full-duplex. You were right, apologies.
Whoa, I've never watched Babylon 5, but now it sounds really cool. An attack on Earth forces. An Earth Civil War. Mars. This is the kind of stuff I like in Sci-Fi. I should start watching this show. I tried getting into Farscape (a few times), but it never really grabbed me.
Wait, so when you patent an algorithm, it's just a mathematical thing, therefore it has no mass, so it shouldn't patentable. What about drugs? Are you patenting the physical drug, or the method of making the drug, or what? The method of making the drug has no mass. All patents can be reduced to massless things. What exactly are you measuring for mass? It's not as simple as you make it, I don't think.
I took a course that was mostly online and I found that participation and in depth discussion can be even better on IRC through text than in the classroom. That may be just my experience since I can express myself better in writing, but I think it's a great tool for education.
It would've been much cooler if you hadn't explained the spelling.

Not only did this person not know the direction the proof would take in advance, but he/she didn't know either the hypothesis or conclusion either!
That's not always entirely true. In theory, you're right, but in both math and science intuition is always a factor. Of course, you can't use your intuition as your proof, but it is often useful to carry you in the right direction.
You must remember that five years is a very long time in this industry
Which industry is "this industry"? We're talking about display technology, and even though, sure, the prices for displays have been dropping, 5 years still really isn't such a long time in the display industry. I really doubt you'll be seeing flexible (why does it need to be flexible anyway, if it's a wall mounted display?) cheap OLEDs by 2008.
Yeah, the first episode was so fucking cool. I watched it like 14 times. I can't wait for the continuation (the second renaissance part 2). Damn, that was cool, I'm still getting over it.
The second episode, the one just released, on the other hand, was not interesting to me. Boring.
You also have a moral obligation. If you really are not willing to report a crime unless some punishment hangs over your head, you have no place in civilized society
Yeah, but when Apple releases the PowerPC 970 chip, or whatever, you will stil be stuck with that slow machine. Just because Apple makes faster machines doesn't change the machine you currently have.

I think he was talking about the *real* theoretical max: 11Mbps.
You're wrong about Impulse Engines. They do not use thrust. They change the velocity of the ship by changing its mass.
Impulse Engine
Impulse Engines are NOT a Newtonian drive like any other.
Works for me.
I understand what you're saying, but Star Trek ships don't use thrust at all. Both the Impulse and Warp Engines work without thrust at all.

When is Babylon 5 on?
Power per gram ratio is meaningless. We want to know who can beat the other one up.
And no way does the cheesy cartoony MM theme song beat the John Williams composed SM theme.
It doesn't take slashdot referals. Copy the link into a new browser and try it that way.
No problem with Safari.
Or, you can just go to the printer-friendly page. One page format, and no ads. Fine, there's a banner ad at the top and bottom, but much fewer ads.

Heh, Apple won't mess with something as obsolete as radio waves travelling through the air.
They won't??
These aren't the Yahoo! message boards. You don't have to write fvck. There are no swear filters. Be a geek and write fsck instead.
Right, but the parent was talking about stores that play music on the soundsystem, not music shops.

"downloading" is not an infinitive (I'm pretty sure it's not). In English, the infinitive would be "to download".
Plus, even with a perfect install, the afterburner has what they call the "trapezoid effect". The GBA SP doesn't suffer from the trapezoid effect.

True. Especially for you, I gather, since you pay 100 bucks a year for .mac "services". I own an ibook. Tell me, is .mac worth it?

Really? Even unjust laws?

But I'm sure you knew that.
