I don't think terroristic is a word, which is why I put it in quotes. At any rate, our oversensitivity to anything which has the potential to instill fear or panic only gives terrorists that much more power, and no amount of heavy-handed law enforcement will dissuade people who are committing irrational acts in the first place.
Yeah right. If by relationship, you mean rampant corruption. Law enforcement has never been without scandal, and if the good ol' days seem better, it's just because we have short memories.
Where I live, some kids were charged with "terroristic activities" after they used baking soda to create "bombs" out of plastic bottles. As a result, the school system is now mandating that students use clear plastic backpacks at all times next year. Sure, everybody will know when little Suzie's on the rag now, but we all know kids will treat such subjects with maturity, and it's all worth it if we can save even one plastic bottle.
Granted, such activity should not be tolerated in school, but when I was a kid we called them pranks, not terrorist plots.
/Any safety features are irrelevant if you're not wearing a seatbelt.
So we should disable ABS, air bags, and traction control if a seatbelt isn't engaged? I agree seatbelts are important, but there's no need for hyperbole.
3 rounds from a.45 wouldn't knock you on your ass any more than the person firing the gun gets knocked on his ass.
As for bruising, yes, the impact will (at least) bruise your chest, but the damage is proportional to the surface area absorbing the impact. As the area increases, the damage decreases.. same principle as a bed of nails. If the area of impact can be increased anywhere close to the area of a pistol grip, then it wouldn't be too bad at all.
That plasma TVs are more environmentally friendly and last longer than CRTs is at most a byproduct of a new technology. Companies don't care if you throw away your TV -- in fact, they'd greatly prefer that you throw it away so you can buy a new one.
Yeah well, he doesn't seem to know what an Orthodox Christian is either. Presumably he meant evangelical, but hey, this is Slashdot -- just because he doesn't know what he's talking about doesn't mean he doesn't have a good point!
And therefore, the fact that no such patent exists strongly suggests that no such patent ever will exist.

Good idea. Now how do you propose they make a liquid coating that doesn't come off?
Consider this:
You don't.

Sorry, should have specified that POV = Privately Owned Vehicle. Another thing about the military: EGA (Everything's Got an Acronym).
What, because they don't drive POVs in the military? Or because they only hire good drivers?
Perhaps, but the flight path of a vapor tends to be less focused than that of hot lead.

They invented Silly Putty?
...and then replacing the drastic drop in population with a new generation after the smoke has cleared.
I'm sold. Where do I sign up?

Yeah, well...
There's no way I'd pay 20 grand for a computer.
Unless it's got spinners.
Bzzzt, wrong!
Radioactive Scorpion Venom -- It's not just offtopic in discussions which don't involve radioactive scorpion venom anymore!
It's not just for killing sharks with frickin' lasers anymore.
I'll bet China is going to come up with some very innovative ideas as they develop their space program.
I bet they'll use dragons.
Objects should not be distinguished only by colour (hel-LO, heard of colour blindness?)...
I think you mean, "objects should not be distinguished only by color."
Yeah.. that's probably why he said it. It all makes sense now!
So are puppies, but that doesn't mean I'm going to plaster them all over my desktop.
Well, I mean theoretically.. if I knew people were going to see it.
FINE, I'll take down the puppies. Jesus!
Since when do pirates play fair?
I doubt funding would be an issue... There's a sucker born every minute.
