Standard Outlook supports webmail (which means only Hotmail as far as I can tell) accounts and yeah, I forgot to mention the awful searching. Also Google desktop always fails to open an e-mail after it finds it, saying "perhaps the e-mail was deleted," or some nonsense. Maybe my setup needs "tweaking," but my system, while not top of the line, is well above par, and a default install shouldn't be that slow. It makes Azureus seem like a snappy minimum-footprint application by comparison.

Could it be that my PST file is around 4 gigs? Or maybe my expectations are just too high.

Well, avoiding reprisal without remaining anonymous may be impossible, but most companies wouldn't risk the lawsuit.

More importantly, if a whistleblower has something to report, then he (hopefully) has evidence, or can point the reader in the direction of where to find such evidence. For example, if you have pictures of Big Chem. Co. trucks dumping toxic waste, or can say "At 4pm every Friday, you'll find trucks dumping toxic waste in the public park," then it doesn't matter whether or not you have credentials. Without some sort of evidence, it's almost pointless to attempt to expose wrongdoing in the first place.

Maybe it's just me, but Outlook is a stinking piece of refuse that brings my system to a crawl. It takes only slightly less time to start up than an infinitely recursive loop. Its "rules," often miss messages (because it's distracted?). It becomes unresponsive when receiving mail through POP3 or dealing with attachments on an Exchange server. When "synchronized" to a Hotmail account, it doesn't bother prefetching e-mails and frequently becomes disconnected, particularly when performing actions on multiple messages. But at least when it becomes disconnected, re-connecting is straightforward.. in a hall-of-mirrors sort of way. With respect to Mr. Churchill, Outlook is to e-mail what democracy is to government -- the worst, except for all other clients I've tried so far.

Until you've owned a goldfish, you can't understand the emotional trauma that causes -- to have your own goldfish forget who you are. I hope one day we have a cure, but until then I'm just happy that the thankless job of goldfish care is finally getting some much-deserved recognition.

Realistic dialogue? Because 1750esque grammar with outbursts in Chinese in outer space is realistic? Don't get me wrong, I think it's great, mostly, except for the part where they talk like cowboys, but realistic is the last adjective I'd choose to describe it. I think the ideas conveyed through the dialog are all of the things you described, but the phrasing is usually (albeit intentionally) ridiculous, and it's difficult for me not to cringe when they start "talkin' all cowboy-like," when it's not used for humor.

Only those who put the blindest of faith in government should be at all surprised, and I suspect those same people would be surprised by a game of Peek-A-Boo.

The Patriot Act essentially suspended the Fourth Amendment. Many people were quite vocal on the matter, but were labeled as anti-American. It's unfortunate that such sentiment is still widespread, and even Senators who are currently filabustering the Act are doing so on frivilous grounds such as the allocation of resources.

But spying on citizenry is undoubtedly an effective tool. Just ask China. What we're forgetting is that this is a proven case where the cure is worse than the disease. History provides not one example of a society made better, happier, or safer by such action, and many examples of the opposite.

It's so clean on the high end, it seems weak on highs, however, it's just because it's so clean. Thank you very much, John"
Yeah, those MK IIs will definately remove the harshness from a digital signal. Optical cables just don't transport information the same way. Sure, they might be good for things like providing the backbone for information technology as we know it, but they just weren't designed for transporting digital audio signals.
"...I received the STEALTH Fineline MK II cable earlier this week and I just wanted to tell how FANTASTIC it sounds! All the harshness is gone, the bass is deeper with more punch, and the midrange is so natural it's scary! Voices and guitars sound real!
The highs are smooth, highly detailed, warm, and lush. I highly recommend this cable, and I will, to all my friends who could benefit from such a great product."
Once again, the harshness is gone. If this is not empiracle evidence, I don't know what is.
