I don't care about the organs... Just set me up with a replacement for my borked teeth! That's all I ask. I know this is an entirely attainable goal, as teeth have been found to grow on teratomas (benign tumors that grow from sperms or ovum)

Please! No more of this stainless-anchored porcelain crap! Set me up with the real thing!

Those are just vessels for CPU's and Chipsets made by Intel, AMD, Motorola, Texas Instruments, Via, etc.

When you look at it that way, Intel has always been the 800 Lb Gorilla, even back in the days when Apple was selling more Motorola CPU's in its "Apple][" vessel...

It takes years and several tries but by working long and hard at it they end up with a better product

that's where your analogy gets lost on me... Sure, Microsoft got an OS out the door with Pre-Emptive Multi-Tasking first, but "better"? Even that female tech-guru analyst that Bill Gates looks to for market analysis was quoted as saying that the Mac OS has always been better thought out and more usable...(Im afraid I don't have a link as I saw it on a goofy TV show a few months back)

But anyways... I was going to post just what you posted (That Palm appears to be pulling an 'Apple Circa 1994') and that this will inevitably lead to domination by Microsoft in yet another market where their vile tentacles haven't cut off the air supply of the competition...

    You are entirely off base!

The cheapest G4 Apple now sells goes for $1299 and includes a 15" LCD - incorporated with the case no less!

The closest any x86-pimping competition comes to offering a comparable system is the low-end Gateway Profile (Also $1299) with a CD-ROM (to Apple's CD-RW), 900 Mhz Celery (to Apple's 700Mhz G4), and a FIXED monitor (to Apple's Adjustable, swiveling, floating monitor)... Both machines sport 128 Megs SDRAM (yet the Gateway has no 802.11 antenna, slot, nor FireWire ports)

"waa I can build a Athlon 1900 system for 20 Dollars"... Yeah.. and you can troubleshoot that thing until the cows come home. The G4 just WORKS.

My my my.... (as gropo looks upon this ignoramus much as Strider looked at the Orcs as he weilded his sword at the end of the film)

Shouting out "We care more about style then function!!!!" is kinda inane.

Nobody is shouting any such thing. What people are shouting is: "We want our interfaces to be as organic and inobtrusive as can be achieved"

and even some of us are screaming: "I DON'T WANT TO BUY SERVICES FROM MY OS AUTHOR's PREFERRED VENDOR, NOR DO I WANT TO BE DIRECTED TO MY OS AUTHOR's INTERNET PORTAL EVERY 5 #$#@( MINUTES"

If I need something I buy it and it works.

And then 30% of the time my @#%^ DLL's get corrupted... or my Drivers become completely useless... or my Motherboard fries my 90Watt-sucking-CPU.... or some of my games don't playback sound correctly anymore.......

It will never cease to amaze me how PeeSee Sheep think that such problems are commonplace and expected in modern logic/information systems. You buy a Sun Blade solution if you want 99.999% uptime reliability... You buy a Mac if you want the Blade's consumer/creative equivalent.

Firewire? Haven't seen a single firewire product

WOW! I guess you've been too busy troubleshooting that "Do Shit Fast" system to notice all the Digital Video Cameras made by Sony or Canon in the last 3 years huh? The iPod!? Portable Hard Drives that are capable of video playback? Tip: Go see an optometrist about that myopia

And don't claim that OSX is a superior OS just because it does all the same stuff as any other half assed GUI, but just with pretty transparencies and fancy colored boxs.

Nobody is asserting such a thing. Instead, they choose to assert that the marriage between the Mach3 and FreeBSD kernels as a harmonic base OS, layered with innovative application frameworks and an even more innovative vector-based Window Management System makes both WindowsXP and any l00nix build look like 20th century TRIPE!

You want to talk about "chopping up a turd into little round pieces and painting it pretty colors" let's take a good hard look at WindowsXP. Hmm.. Still the same old Win32 API's... Same old window management paradigm... new $&^%@ Fischer Price colors slapped on top of Dave Cutler's "VMS-For-Intel" kernel.

OH WAIT! It's got "Orwell Inside(TM)"!!! I almost FORGOT!

Fuck said people. Anybody who likes form over substance has yet to get out of that 4 year old 'oooh, pretty shiny thing!!!

THANK YOU DR. FREUD! Another possible analysis is that said people's brains are generally more active than yours, and understand that any interface paradigm incurs mental causalities in both the conscious and subconscious, and that it follows that a well designed UI can be an asset to one's daily mental state... Perhaps said people would also prefer a nice Mozart or Rachmaninov concerto to Britney's latest cookie-cutter hit single as well.

I really don't know why I wasted these past 25 minutes on you... Well.. it was good mental exercise anyhow :)
