..causing Jonny Public and his family endless grief, making them stick to windows 2000 or 98.
The general public are stupid and would not even be able to handle that level of security! They'd want to know why their new mouse cursors can't be installed, why their IE search bar needs a password, etc, etc
Yeah, you hit on the same problem as the space shuttle.. Its dangerous for some, so it wont be used!
The way I see it, i'd rather hear of a few people getting problems than an entire plane load of people and perhaps whatever building load of people they plow into, dying altogether.
Its that wretched "pink, soft and fluffy world" syndrome again!
Thinking about it a bit more.. some people might have a funny effect form the gas though! might not be such a bad idea, but its certainly feasible in my mind!:)
How about having the pilot violently jiggle the plane a bit, drop the oxygen masks.. which has been linked in with sleeping gas? (Only after a few minutes, obviously, dont want people zonking out straight away, making those who havent put the mask on yet suspicious!;) )
You're lucky then! I've had an account for almost 3 months now and I've not had a single one.. My girlfriend almost killed me when I took the original account (all she has is Hotmail!) but I and another friend, who also had a gmail account, promised you get invites every 2 weeks.. whoops!
Jasper Carrott also used this in one of his standup routines.. all great stuff:)
He claimed it was Oc, Far and Rup, so you get songs changing like "Oc, far rup a clock rup a clock, rock! rup rup rup o clock rock!". And its now a quarter past rup, so im going home.
Actually, windows 2000 doesnt handle HT properly - it will report your system as having two physical processors. XP will say 1 physical and 1 logical, as will Win2003.
Intel themselves recommend you disable HT under win2k, see: http://www.intel.com/support/platform/ht/os. htm http://www.microsoft.com/windows2000/server/e valua tion/performance/reports/hyperthread.asp
having read some other posts, i wonder if Win4Lin would be able to run the MMC console for Exchange and AD - apparently it provides a full win98 environment..? Could be an interesting experiment!
why cant you use remote desktop to get onto a windows server which has all the other things you need, like the sql manager?
as for AD, you dont mention if you want to connect on it (in which case you should be able to use samba or ldap as your login controller) or administer it, in which case its the same as the sql manager..
