Plus, why assume that someone who writes bad code will write good comments?
Haven't you heard the quote, "Comments in code are like sex - even when it's bad, it's still better than nothing"?
If you don't need them, then great... but it's the other people working on the same project that would be the ones using comments placed in the code to help themselves along.
Does their spokesman happen to be Wilford Brimley (realmedia format, high quality)? He's been campaigning for this for about 7-8 years "because it's the right thing to do..."
hmm... i say let 'em put in the backdoors, then as soon as the government starts to use those backdoors, slap 'em with the dmca for "circumventing copy-protection mechanisms"!;)
Other ideas would include buttons located in many many places on the airplane that would activate automatic, pre-recorded messages to the effect that the plane is no longer in full control of the pilot. Which, if pressed, with no further contact with airline authorities, would be sure sign that the pilot was dead, or being forced not to engage in further contact.
I heard on the radio today that in planes they actually have a button similar to the silent alarms they have in banks... press that button and a signal is sent out giving the airplane's identification and the message that it is currently being hijacked. Unfortunately, the pilots in today's attack didn't have a chance to press this button before they were overpowered / killed.
But Sobel and Altschul said Carnivore cannot separate address information from the content of a message in a packet, and so authorities must be trusted to weed out data they are not allowed by law to have.
This is like saying to a kid, "We'll sit this cookie and these lima beans in front of you, but we're trusting you to only eat your lima beans and not even look at that cookie!"
And what about how using Echelon to spy on US citizens was circumvented by intercepting the information and giving it to foreign groups, which would do the same with their info? Who's to say that this info isn't going to be handed over just like that?

Will we see a resurgence of retro gaming should there be no problems with unofficial porting of applications?
sure, but only among the people who own (heh heh heh) the original roms ~_^

"...I do have to say, I'd buy an X-Box if it makes a good, cheap Mame machine, with quality controllers easily available."
The controller that comes with the X-Box looks like it's going to be a pain to hold. Seems like your hands would have to angle in at odd angles to hold the controller comfortably. Other controllers look a bit better (onscreen, at least), but I wish that there was some object shown with the controller (a hand, perhaps? would that have been too hard to include with something that you'd use with your, dare I say, hands?) to show some sort of scale.
In humans, the molecule is crucial to the dilation of blood vessels and the signalling that goes on between neurons in the brain.
No wonder I always feel "light-headed".;)

I mentioned this to my neighbor, and we'd both like to see the day when people start making FPS's in their basements.:)
yeah, they should stop showing those annoying little logos because (as wilford brimley says) it's the right thing to do :)

look on the bright side, at least they're not using it to spam people! ;)
with some artists this could be considered an improvement ;)
Seems like a smart idea to me.
Just great, now my cracker-jack decoder ring is considered to be contraband! :)

How about a "Bob Ross" renderer - give all player models an afro and complete it by including happy little trees? ;-)
