my mom's friend's school in colorado uses software called Blackboard. I believe it lets students read assignments and such online.

My old comp-sci teacher also has a site where his students can read notes and print out worksheets:
http://askwood.com
I think its fine to sell non-real items online.
But I also say that its Sony's game, they can do what they want, no matter what anyone thinks. Don't like it? Go elsewhere.
Now I just have to think of why Sony would try to stop people from playing their game with all these restrictions.
I'm guessing that its impossible to even install whistler on a box with no NIC (not that it ever happens here), but could I not install whistler on my laptop if I had my pcmcia lan card removed? would I have to buy a NIC just to get whistler or what?
Considering they'd ever do this and get the trains running etc. It wouldn't do much good for transportation of people.
Sure, in most of the east you can ride a train just about anywhere. But when people get to alaska, they're going to have to get on a plane because of the lack of any popular or intricate american train system.
So its not out, but lets not whine. All I've seen from Blizzard is great games. Warcraft 1 and 2 rocked. People are still playing starcraft. Just because its not out yet doesn't mean it won't rock so much when its out.
And I know it will >:)
ever played duck hunt? i dunno about anyone else but that seems like the optimal way to play a game such as this on a console system. i've seen a game for psx called time trial (it was something like that) where it showed your crosshairs on the screen and you shot at people. combine this with some type of 1 handed movement controller and shoot-em-up games would be alot cooler
Musicians, although making very little from cds, make most of their money from concerts, t-shirts, and other trademarked stuff. Burning their music hurts the/industry/ more than the artists themselves.
So I say, screw the industry, free the music, and pay for the awesome concerts;P (And t-shirts of course)
Seeing how computer people on tv are almost always dumb they would then not know the sheer benifits of : FreeBSD (tm). Therefore they must be feeble minded Linux users conforming to the GNU niche.
1. Invent mouse and gui that goes along with it
2. Secretly patent both
3. Wait a long time
4. Blackmail companies for money or sue for patent infrigement
5. Come out on top
Wow kids, theres a neat-o sun spot on the sun. It causes magnetic interference and all kinds of neat stuff. Oh? You want to see it? No!! You cannot!! Now go do something else.
I do the same thing, and maybe this will become more of the norm. With broadband everywhere now, people don't need lan parties to play lan games (although fragging someone and then shoving it in their face in real life is fun). 100 mbit ethernet is alot quicker than 128kbit dsl for 10 gigs of divx ;>
©o,,o©©o,,o©©©o,
yeah, your probably right, but i would hope that people would be unlame enough to respect a company that is trying to help out opensource/linux.

Hey Be, want to know how to stay alive? Port your GUI to Linux/BSD. I know I'd buy it, beats this X crap I currently put up with...
©o,,o©©o,,o©©©o,
Is there any chance they'll port halflife so i can play counter strike in unix? :>
©o,,o©©o,,o©©©o,
don't forget penny arcade!
©o,,o©©o,,o©©©o,
As far as documentation for FreeBSD goes: http://www.freebsd.org/handbook/ Unlike Linux, freebsd has a standard documentation place. Whereas in Linux you must go and find the documentation for the specific distribution, in freebsd its all there. apt-get might be all good and all but imo using ports and /usr/src for upgrading and isntalling new programs is alot cleaner and better than installing everything as 386 optimized binaries (ala debian)

If it can't be distributed by third parties does that mean I can't mirror?

All the way down here in supersouth texas.

Since when did you need graphics to do system administration. BeOS or Win2k for the desktop, and unix for the server, but not X, no no no.
Maybe you could use Geographic Authentication stuff thought up earlier to authenticate voters only in that area?

Does this mean I can get true color images in my LiteBrite?

Patents can get you a long way.
Most of it is mirrored here.
Does this mean I can record the side scroll record of my super mario game into my shirt?
Slashdot runs apache and I bet it gets 500k to 1M hits a day just from trolls refreshing to get first post ;)
