    I wouldn't touch Rambus with a 20 ft pole. Is it me, or do we always have to wait for the second generation of the Intel processor (ie P4 Northwood, P3 Cumine) before we even get remotely what we want?

    People aren't demanding Rambus. They want something that's worth the cost!

    It's all resold by the same telco, Bell Canada, (*cough* crap) but at least it's much more stable than the cable provided by Rogers @home. (*cough* don'tknowhowtomakedhcpservers)

    I regularly get 1.5 Mb/s downstream and 160 kb/s upstream, which apparently is about in the middle of the pack.

    Here in Ottawa, MANY of us are on either cable or dsl. It is only the rural areas with problems breaking out of the 56k standard.

    My girlfriend, as I said in the e-mail, is moving from the USA to Canada for this very reason. (Polticians going overboard with the thought police, 1984 style meanderings)
    Canada may not be much better, but... it's a safe haven for now.

    Oh give me a break.
    Some corporations are good. most are bought out long before they have any impact.

    As for alternatives to running the cable, it doesn't bloody well matter. If it is your property, you have a RIGHT. Screw you and your devil's advocacy just so you can have some fun. Use your brain.

    Guess what... it rules.
    Mozilla is a VERY GOOD browser, and they are really getting their acts together. They've done extremely well considering they can't integrate with the OS.
    Konqueror, as I saw mentioned up there, is nothing compared to this.
    Opera... nice, but I'd like to see the benchmarks first.

    Mozilla is coming along. We can wait.

    Microsoft is the defacto standard in so many realms. Why WOULD it fall?
    The net is STILL growing! We just find it becomming stagnant because we've been here for so long, and it's not new and fresh.
    The future IS Microsoft. The question is, will it become another IBM?

    Only time will tell.

    is an awesome writer. He writes very much in a Douglas Adams fashion, though in a fantasy method instead of the sci-fi.
    Good Omens was amazing. Neil Gaimen and he worked together to produce something that literally had me drop the floor and giggle hysterically.

    I hate to be a profit of doom, but I don't see that they can beat the RIAA if Napster couldn't.

    It might be the first good thing to come out of Dune since the books. Seems to me that anything they make based on the books sucks, but... this looks GOOD.

    Our culture has made soft-porn. We feel the body MUST be covered, and so we're attracted to what we can't see. Look at Europe, where any actress will casually strip for a movie where it is REASONABLE to be naked in the plot.
    Stupidity leads to stupidity.
    Oh and by the way... if all of our kids were looking at porn and not doing anything violent, this world would be a better place :op
