The Complete History of Wang Chung Part III -- WRONGPages: [PREV]123
2000
- "Wang Chung Version 4.0" embarked on an American Summer 2000 Tour, featuring Jack Hues on Lead Guitar and Lead Vocals, Bill Clift on Guitar and Vocals, Dony Wynn on Drums, Manny Yanes on Bass Guitar, and Mike Bohannon on Keyboards. Also, the support staff included Kevin Kegley as the House Sound Engineer, and Mick Weick as Monitor Sound Engineer. Bill Clift is Fuzzbuddy, and has supported such professional acts as Robert Plant, World Party, and Kylie Minogue. Dony Wynn has supported such luminaries as Robert Palmer, Brooks and Dunn, and Patti LaBelle.
- From June 30 to August 6, 2000, Wang Chung performed as part of "Club 80's - The Flashback Tour", featuring Wang Chung as headliners, as well as opening acts A Flock Of Seagulls, Dale Bozzio of Missing Persons, and Gene Loves Jezebel (featuring Michael Aston). Rob Juarez of The Boss Booking Agency and Chuck Bernal of Artists Worldwide were the agents behind the Club 80's tour.
- From August 7 through September 16, 2000, Wang Chung embarked on a headlining tour of their own, with various support acts along the way. Although Nick Feldman and Jack Hues are still partners in the Wang Chung project, Nick was unable to appear with the band and tour this year, due to his hectic work schedule. Yet despite Nick's absence, the band was full of energy and ready to play! Club 80's - The Flashback Tour

2001
- February 2001 - Nick Feldman was an A&R manager for Warner Music UK Limited (WEA Records in London), promoting fine new bands such as Arturo, The Screaming Orphans, The Webb Brothers, and ARKARNA. However, in February 2001 WEA A&R manager Nick Feldman left the company ahead of an expected reshuffle, prompted by the pending Warner/London Records merger. By March 2001, WEA Records and London Records finally merged, resulting in departures from both companies.
- Summer 2001 - Wang Chung once again plans on touring across the United States this summer (check the 'main' page for more details)! Wang Chung will have the same personnel this year. However, this season's tour will be smaller, as they are only going to play selected dates. It seems that Jack Hues is producing a couple of things at the moment, and this way of working enables him to continue with work in the UK, rather than disappearing for 3 months at a time.
- May 03, 2001 - Nashville, TN - The Playroom at 12th & Porter
- May 04, 2001 - Lake Charles, LA - Contraband Days at the Lake Charles Civic Center
- May 05, 2001 - Chicago, IL - Park West
- June 21, 2001 - Oshkosh, WI - WaterFest at Riverside Park
- June 23, 2001 - Cincinnati, OH - P & G Pavilion Park
TODAY, all four original members are still working hard within the music industry:
Jack Hues is still busy writing music and producing on his own, being responsible for such projects as the 1990 film soundtrack to William Friedkin's "The Guardian", among others. Recently, Jack has just co-produced and co-written the new ARKARNA album for Warners. He is looking for very musical projects which need a big writing/arranging input.
Nick Feldman is now working for Sony Music with David Massey, who was Wang Chung's manager back in the 1980's! Nick and Jack are also founding investors in Graeme Pleeth's great project called Studio EncycloMedia, an on-line directory of worldwide professional recording studios and the focal point for the professional recording industry.
Darren Costin (aka "Darwin") is also busy as an engineer, producing and editing various projects for the likes of U2, Bjork and Pavarotti. Darren is reportedly now involved with a new band named "LOBE", with an album in the works.
David Burnand (aka "Hogg" Robinson) is the Head of Music Technology, Head of the Centre for Screen Music Studies, and a Principal Lecturer at the Royal College of Music. He composes electroacoustic and film scores, including music and sound design for: Hoi Polloi (BBC, 1990), Acumen (C4, 1991), Smart Alek (BFI, 1993), Là Bas (BFI, 1994), Gallivant (BFI/C4, 1996). The Gallivant soundtrack is available on CD (TS CD001).

THE OFFICIAL TACO-SNOTTING FAQ (Score:-1, Troll) by Anonymous Coward on Tuesday November 13, @11:31PM (#2561559) By The WIPO Troll [slashdot.org]
What is "Taco-snotting?"
"Taco-snotting" is a term used by one
Rob "CmdrTaco" Malda [cmdrtaco.net] owner of the popular technology website Slashdot [slashdot.org] to refer to the practice of sucking off a homosexual man (or unwilling heterosexual; CmdrTaco doesn't care) and blowing the semen back out his nose onto his pertner's (or victim's) face or body. Usually a long, bubbly stream of semen is left on CmdrTaco's face, dribbling out of his nose down his cheek: hence the term, "Taco-snotting."
That's disgusting. Have you ever been Taco-Snotted?
Unfortunately, yes. I first met CmdrTaco at an
Open Source Convention [geocities.com]. He invited me back to his room for a game of Quake, but when I got to there, he jumped me and tied me to his bed, stripping me. He performed his vile Taco-snotting ritual on me three times over the next two hours, sucking me to orgasm then snotting my own jizz back onto my face, in my mouth, then again on my belly.
CmdrTaco invited several of his Open Source (or rather, "Open Sauce" -- man sauce) Convention buddies over to continue the snotfest. Linux Torvalds raped my ass with his "monolithic kernel," and Anal Cox used his "network stack" in a multitude of unspeakable ways on and in every orifice in my body.
How did I finally escape? After about 16 hours of nonstop homosexual atrocities perpetrated against my helpless body, they all finally went to sleep. I was left there, covered in jizz-snot, chained to the bed, with fat, pasty white fags lying around and on top of me. Fortunately the spooge coating my entire body worked wonderfully as a lubricant; I was able to squirm my way out of the handcuffs and slip out the back door. I'm just glad I survived the ordeal. These geeks had a
lot of built-up spunk in their wads -- I could've easily been drowned!
Why am I always receiving emails from CmdrTaco asking me if I would allow him to Taco-snot me?
I'm guessing you've received an email similar to the following:
From: malda@slashdot.org [mailto] To: wipotroll@hotmail.com Subject: Hey, baby - jion me in a taco-snott!:)
Hey, baby!
Ever done a taco-snotting with anothar fellow geek? Its more fun then trolling Slashdot, trust me! all that talk you troll with about homasexual incest and stuff got me all horny and hot for you! Is it serius? Please tell me that itt is! If you want to get with me and my Slashdot bois, drop me an emale!
ps- Please replie to me at horny_rob_6969@hotmail.com. I'd rather the guys at VA Linux are not seen this.:):)
-- CmdrTaco (malda@slashdot.org)
You most likely forgot to uncheck the "Willing to Taco-snot" checkbox in your preferences. Whenever CmdrTaco gets bored (and who wouldn't, running a site like Slashdot all day), he roams through the Slashdot database, penis in hand, looking for people who might enjoy being Taco-snotted. And this time, he found you. Lucky you.
CmdrTaco has probably already got the hots for your wad; there's no escaping a geek in heat, so it's probably too late... but you can possibly rectify this situation. To remove yourself from CmdrTaco's sites, log into your Slashdot account, go to your user page, click on
Messages, and uncheck the box next to "Willing to Taco-snot."
I can't stop receiving these emails from CmdrTaco!?
Probably not. If you indulge him in a Taco-snot or two, he
might leave you alone. You might also want to look into mail filtering, restraining orders, or purchasing a heavy, blunt object capable of warding off rampaging homosexual geeks in heat. Trust me, when they charge... oh, the humanity. If he gets you, and you let him Taco-snot you, he might end up tying you up in his basement and using you as his sex slave for the rest of your life (or until he accidentally drowns you in spunk while using you as his sex pony in a "circle-snot"). It very nearly happened to me.
What is a "Circle-snot"?
A "circle-snot" is a
Taco-snotting circle-jerk: when CmdrTaco, CowboiKneel, and Homos get together and Taco-snot each other repeatedly with their gooey, hot, sticky cum, spooging all over each other's faces and pasty-white bodies until they're covered head to toe with man juice. Roblowme usually provides the extra lubricant; he owns a limo service and has ample supplies of motor oil and axle grease.
To complete the perverted orgy, Michael, Timothy, and Jamie sometimes join in, dressed in black Gestapo uniforms, jack boots, and leather gloves. The whole group then proceeds to snot each other's spunk and whip each other's asses with riding crops and cattleprods until their pasty-white geek bodies are exhausted from all the passionate, homosexual revelry.
Ew. Does Jon Katz get involved in this? I thought he was a paedophile, not a homosexual.
Actually, Jon Katz a homosexual paedophile. He's also a coprophiliac, and, many suspect, a zoophile. Jon Katz is somewhat of a loner and doesn't involve himself in circle-snots. Mr. Katz usually engages in a game called "Katz juicy-douching" with his harem of little-boy slaves: a vile practice which involves administering an enema to himself of little-boy urine (forced out of them with a pair of pliers), spooging the vile muck from his ass back into the enema bag, then slathering the goo all over himself, and the little boy's chained-up and naked bodies. Unwilling boys are further tortured with the pliers until they comply and allow Mr. Katz to juicy-douche them for the rest of their lives.
As I already said, Mr. Katz is also a zoophile. As if the sexual escapades with the helpless little boys aren't enough, Jon usually enjoys his juicy-douches best when his penis is firmly planted in a goat's anus. He is also rumoured to get off on watching his little boys eat the goat's small, bean-like turds.
...Are you getting hard writing this?
Why, yes.:) Join me in a WIPO-snot? I promise I won't try and rape you or kidnap you and make you my sex slave or anything. I'm not like CmdrTaco or Mr. Katz; I only enjoy snotting on willing partners.
What's that screaming I hear coming from your basement?
Oh, that's just my little sister; I got her chained up down there. In fact, I just finished snotting all over her body. You should see her squirm when I spooge on her belly, lick it up, and snot it all over her face! She's such a feisty little 14 year-old bitch. Of
course she's my sex slave, she's my sister. What else would she be good for? So, join me in a WIPO-snot?

Are There Risks in Sharing Firewall Logs?Posted by Cliff on Tuesday November 13, @02:33PM from the looking-before-leaping dept. FireballDWF asks: "What are the risks in sharing my personal Firewall logs with others? I ask as helping to put a stop to detect and stop attacks at their source by becoming an agent for MyNetWatchman sounds easy and appealing, but I am concerned about the possible risks." The MyNetWatchman service is designed to take a pro-active approach to network security. A network agent sits on a users firewall and forwards log entries to a central server that analyzes the data and warns the user if suspicious activity occurs. Sounds like a good plan, but what dangers (if any) will the users of this service be exposing themselves to by providing such access to their machines, even if they are just log files?
Rolling Your Own Laptop?Posted by Cliff on Tuesday November 13, @10:37AM from the when-off-the-shelf-isn't-good-enough dept. rneches asks: "I've been looking around for a Linux friendly laptop, and I've found a couple of reasonable systems. However, there really aren't any laptops out there that really meet the needs of a Linux user. In particular, most laptops are, more or less, desktop replacements. As such, they are loaded with scads of nifty features, beefy processors, and so forth. This is great, I suppose, if you are running Windows or MacOS and want a desktop replacement. If you're a Linux user, and spend most of your time in emacs windows (er, frames), most of that fancy stuff is more of a liability than an asset. In other words, I'm talking about coders, admins and other Linux hackers more than I'm talking about the 'average user'." In short, rneches is looking to find a way to build his own laptop, and if the platform doesn't exist to be able to do this, he's looking for help in creating one. Interested?
Web Ads with Sound?Posted by Cliff on Tuesday November 13, @07:30AM from the what-annoying-thing-will-they-think-of-next dept. This isn't something that can easily be turned off - unlike popups, they can't just be clicked on or elminated by a nifty browser plugin. I'm interested in seeing how the Slashdot community deals with the new, more annoying ads that the more desperate companies are implementing now. Do you just live with them? Are there even niftier plugins to the browsers that I'm just not aware of?" And you thought pop-ups were the worst, now you can get sudden and annoying sounds played as well. Maybe browsers will have volume sliders bundled with them in the near future. God, I hope not, but if such ads become commonplace, it may be a good idea.
Buying Brandname Linux Desktops?Posted by Cliff on Tuesday November 13, @04:21AM from the penguins-preinstalled dept. bobstaff asks: "I work for a company producing a highly technical product for export of which a Linux network is a significant part. Usually we build the Linux computers from components using some of the higher end options available (Dual 1Ghz Pentium III, SCSI disk,CD-RW,tape, 512Mb Ram, High End Video card, etc...). Occasionally we have a customer, however, who insists on having a brand name computer (eg. Compaq, HP, etc..) with support in whichever country they are from, regardless of the extra cost and decreased performance. In the past this has always caused problems, from Linux incompatible components to having to fight to get the pre-installed Windows distribution overwritten with Linux. What experiences do Slashdot readers have with buying brand name computers with international support and running Linux on them? Also can anyone recommend companies with international support producing Linux computers?"

In playing with various tools for this (Dia, Visio, Kvivio, xfig, tgif, etc). I've noticed that each package has it's own idea about what abstract icon to use for various devices (what Visio would call "logical" icons). While there is some overlap, the meaning attached to an icon is sometimes different between applications, and what's worse is that (using the example of Visio) the same application has multiple different icons for the same type of device! Is there any kind of standard for network diagram iconography? Should there be?"

Polaris Amphitheater, July 2000
- 2001
TODAY, all four original members are still working hard within the music industry:- February 2001 - Nick Feldman was an A&R manager for Warner Music UK Limited (WEA Records in London), promoting fine new bands such as Arturo, The Screaming Orphans, The Webb Brothers, and ARKARNA.

- David Burnand (aka "Hogg" Robinson) is the Head of Music Technology, Head of the Centre for Screen Music Studies, and a Principal Lecturer at the Royal College of Music.

(User #151811 Info | http://www.geocities...riangle/Station/2266) Simple idea: make me a PDA that includes the following:
-A BIOS that handles power management and screen taps, as well as a fairly safe routine for handling flash functions
-Easily swapped OS
-Versatility of an iPaq, batteries of a Palm (rechargeable is best
-USB cradle
Put that out as an OEM device. You can even ship it with WinCE if you like (PalmOS 5/ARM would probably be a better choice of course), but make sure the world knows you can hack it.

(User #194887 Info | http://www.ichimunki.com/) Presumably you will be holding the stylus in your hand, so yes, you have something with a sufficiently narrow, yet blunt end to poke the keys with. Considering it's not a QWERTY layout, your traditional touch typing skills are wasted anyway. Too bad they didn't license the Fitaly layout, though. That's more efficient, I think than a straight ABCDEFG... layout.

Are There Risks in Sharing Firewall Logs? Posted by Cliff on Tuesday November 13, @02:33PMfrom the looking-before-leaping dept.

Rolling Your Own Laptop? Posted by Cliff on Tuesday November 13, @10:37AMfrom the when-off-the-shelf-isn't-good-enough dept.
rneches asks: "I've been looking around for a Linux friendly laptop, and I've found a couple of reasonable systems. Interested?

Web Ads with Sound? Posted by Cliff on Tuesday November 13, @07:30AMfrom the what-annoying-thing-will-they-think-of-next dept.
Mina asks: "Just noticed that some sites, About.com in particular, started piping sound adds in their pages - one in particular (the Harry Potter themed CocaCola subsidized reading campaign from Reading is Fundamental).

Buying Brandname Linux Desktops? Posted by Cliff on Tuesday November 13, @04:21AMfrom the penguins-preinstalled dept.
bobstaff asks: "I work for a company producing a highly technical product for export of which a Linux network is a significant part.

Cerebus asks: "I'm taking over administrative and management functions for a network, and one of the tasks is, of course, providing accurate diagrams for the whole shebang.
