He's not talking about the installation of the Linux distribution, he is talking about installing SAP on top of (RedHat) Linux. Still, that is a very long time.
instead of clicking the goatse.cx joke link (which actually works BTW), you can substitute your favorite theme by replacing the "it" in the it.slashdot.org url with one of the other themes (yro, apple, games etc). I myself prefer developers.slashdot.org.
and taking up a career in business or bio-tech. I am very worried about current trends with CS and IT jobs moving overseas. I do not see any relief from this trend, and I would not recommend jumping into this industry, unless you plan on working with or for government.
I know of a few older scientists who would give anything to go down in history as the first humans to step foot on / colonize Mars. My Step-dad for one. This is truly an exciting prospect, and I believe after a few years we may even be able to get them back.
Why *doesn't* Apple include Ogg on their iPod

What's the harm in supporting an open source format that technophiles and some audiophiles clamor for? I mean I can understand the hesitation to support WMA, as that would be propping up a competitor (Microsoft), but I don't see who else benefits from supporting Ogg except consumers. I personally would love to own an iPod, and I would like to pick and choose what format my audio is stored in. Most of my collection is in MP3. I've got a few songs in AAC, perhaps 3 songs in ogg, and to my ears it all sounds pretty good. It can't be that difficult to add ogg handling to the iPod, can it?
As many people have already stated, there are faster fax machine speeds, i.e. G3 (AKA V.34 Fax), which can transmit a unidirectional 33.6 speed. There is even ISDN Fax (64 kbps) and IP fax.
My Fiancee has a couple of games from that she really likes to play, that on a PII 400 are very playable, whereas if she tried to play them on a P4 2ghz+ they would drive her insane. She had an opportunity to play a Shockwave game on both types of systems and she was very happy to go back to her PII.:)

I magine it could be weight activated so that it's not always on.

not a very good start for April Fools.
The sign-up if you're interested form/button doesn't work.
except if you are a perfect shot nothing happens. :)
I think goatseblows.cx would be more appropriate.
they taste like bugles to me...
I have this book, and found myself reading it recently. I think this book is incredibly dated, with examples that use #include .h>.

I wondered about that myself. It just made me want to go find a picture of it. Gotta love google's image search.

I would guess that people lose cards often.

I would love to see something to back this up. 500 Million? We are talking about 5% - 7% of the world. I am really doubtful this is true.
