I doubt US ISP's would be happy. Or non-US ISP's operating in the US for that matter. The only possible thing I could see implemented would be a Government run blacklist that ISP could subscribe to if they wanted.

I heard a Fry's electronics sales guy this weekend "clueing" in some customers that were looking at some iMacs. He said you had to multiple the Mhz by 2.5 on the Mac side to compare it to Athlons:)
>>What if all of a sudden the U.S. Patent Office decided that musicians could patent chords or certain note phrasings?
This a old technique, say something really amazing and simple to grab your attention. The problem is it's just an attention getting technique. Yes patents are messed up but the article is pure conjecture.
The court said that consumers not only have a right to express their dissatisfaction with products or services -- including on Internet sites -- but also to read what others have to say.
They're letting those Canadian people write and read now? What is the world coming to?-)
> I understand the BSD structure resembles SunOS and HP/UX more than Linux
Not really, SunOS used to be BSD based but changed that alot when they combined their stuff with AT&T's and ended up with System5Release4. Depending on the Linux distro sometimes Linux will end up closer to a SVR4 Unix.
> I keep wondering why big companies like HP and Sun choose linux, instead of freeBSD
Guess what OSX is based on:)
Read the message, the guy even admits it's immature.
"I've been using Unix-based mailers for well over a decade. I've been mailed countless illegible attachments from Windows users over the past ten years. It's immature of me, I know, but to some degree turnabout is fair play."
Actually I'll be suprised if AOL doesn't file a suite about the IM market also. Under XP you get MSN messenger installed automatically (with the option to remove it hidden). Even launching Outlook causes(by default) MSN messenger to launch.
Do you see open source software at Sun generating any positive income (and in what fashion) or is it mostly about making Sun hardware a viable alternative to pc's with MS software (and linux to some degree)?
"Intel has devised a new structure for transistors that could lead to microprocessors that run faster and consume less power than conventional ones."
The new types of structures that allow slower and hotter microprocessors?-)
Is there any other type of breakthrough as far a microprocessors are concerned?
> Yeah thats a bigger privacy issue that cookies. E-mail them all my session info? No way.
:) lol
So you are either:
a) Mailing someone a link in your bank statement (ie:dumb)
b) Mailing them a link to some place like/. and they might find out you have JenniCam turned on:)
Even with cookie session tracking the server should always expire the session, use unique session numbers, and track with more info, possible ip address. So sending a rewritting url to someone or copying cookies should have the same effect, no session for you!-)
> URL rewriting only works for one session.
So does a session cookie.
There is a big difference between session cookies and just cookies. In most cases a session cookie is never even written to disk. If it was that would be a security hole. Most of the cookies stored on you hard drive are just there to say "It's me again" to a website and let us be lazy about logging in or let the site track our usage.
Everything that's written correctly, session don't have to rely on cookies. The other most commond method is url rewritting. The only thing that cookies provide is a quick log on method. And it lets sites track you:)
Session information could and should be keep on the server.
For me caffeine was worse. I smoked for about 5 years. I've never been big into coffee but I was a big Mountain Dew freak. I got moody when I quite smoking. But the caffeine headache was just terrible I couldn't think straight for over a week. It's a good thing I was only working in PC repair at the time.
I also added the calories up from the amount of Dew I was drinking, if I remeber it was 1800 a day.
1st.net blocks ALL SMTP traffic. Not just to keep people from other networks from using their SMTP servers, but to keep their own customers from using outside SMTP servers. It shouldn't be to long now till someone does both of these things to completely prevent people from using other email address while connected to them.
We also seem to be ahead in terms of bad service. My cable modem has been almost nonfunctional for 3 months now. And it's not hard to find other people that have had longer outages.
Of course everything is perspective and I have deemed your message as having no lasting benift to humanity, it is there for been deemed as SPAM. Now you must DIE!
But on the otherthings, didn't anyone ever tell you that there is some cosmic rule about not being that happy? It would destroy the balance between time and space. We'd all end up in an episode of Voyager! So for the sake of the universe I hope the the RIAA doesn't go away in your like time.
Personally I just can't look at a crt all day long, even at high refresh rates. They give me headaches. So I end up doing most of my work(except gaming of course) on my laptop.

Yeah, they never did anything for Tomcat did they? (sarcasm) A few of the developers for Tomcat were Sun employees until recently. Did you bother to check any of your other rants?
That little "RC1" means something don't you know?-)

I wonder is creative will do anything with OpenAL....

Is the license still in place?

Half Life = good interactive storytelling
Half Life = considered holy grail of game design by many
:) Everything's funny with the right perspective.
