Next you cannot simulate a universe as complex as ours inside our universe since such a system must have as many possible states as our universe.

This makes me think of the Banach-Tarski paradox. I don't claim to understand it by any means, but it's a proof where you can take a geometric object, break it into pieces, and reconstruct 2 objects identical to the original, without adding anything. There's a pretty interesting Vsauce video about it.

What if, through some complex mathematics, it is possible to simulate the entire universe using only part of the universe?

I had a similar idea for getting rid of scam phone calls. A national (or whatever government level) whitelist, coupled with personal whitelists. Any number not on either your whitelist or the national one simply can't get through, they get a busy signal or something. Companies can register to be placed on the national whitelist, but must prove their validity etc. Abuses can be reported, and fines, suspensions, bans, etc. can be imposed if necessary.

Wouldn't it also have to do with the size of the intake? The grill will have to be much stronger to protect a larger engine from the same impact.

Using this, and comparing to the wingspan (14.7m), the intake on a SU-27 has a cross-sectional area of ~0.60m^2 (assuming it's square).

Compare that to a GE CF6-50, where the intake has a CSA of ~5.6m^2, almost 10x that of the Sukhoi.

I'd speculate that it's economics of scale. It's easier to make one larger engine of a given power than two smaller engines at half the power, with the same efficiency.

  23. You assumed that the only reason I could disagree with you is that I wasn't educated enough. That is basing your position on a direct attack against me, rather than a well reasoned argument dealing with the subject; a textbook example of ad hominem: "(of an argument or reaction) directed against a person rather than the position they are maintaining". Then you follow it up with yet another insult while trying to backpedal from your original statement. If you want to take it back, then do so, but don't pretend it wasn't directed at me in the first place.

I suggest to read something about the "anti GMO" movements :D

Many people who are anti-GMO are fundamentally against the idea because they think that GMO foods are the cause of all kinds of health problems in the population, and that conclusion is patently unsupported by the scientific evidence.

The best arguments I have seen state that the substantial equivalence testing standard may not be rigorous enough. But this is a procedural issue, not a fundamental one. I have also heard many of the economic and legal arguments, like issues with seed monopolies, etc. But these arguments are just that: legal and economic, not scientific, and I am much more sympathetic towards them. I am also not against labeling GMO food; people should be able to make the choice if they want, and they can only do so with proper labeling.

If you have something, tell me, show me. Put your money where your mouth is. I'm willing to listen, but so far you have said nothing substantial.

  24. Obviously you are not educated enough to understand the arguments of people who are against GMO.
