RH provided two things: updates and new releases. Your $60/yr gave you both. The new releases will not be provided by Progeny. If you look at the work that RH did, I'd bet (and I do this for a living) making new releases was much more time consuming than the updates. New releases have development time, but they also have time dedicated to physical things, like packages, CD-ROMs, etc. They cost $$, too.
Yes, you missed that for $60/yr RH would send you a package, too. Progeny will only make updates available. That's a lot less work, since there are no development costs (of new versions).
1. He was always an ass, but you just liked it before.
2. The producers are running out of ideas, and it's getting to Jessie. During the PT Crusier show he kept harping of the fact that the idea (from the producers) sucked.
3. They're starting to scrape the bottom of the barrel for show talent. On shows where there is good talent with good personalities, Jessie isn't an ass.
I used Mr. BIOS years ago on a 486 computer when I was having trouble with the OEM BIOS. It seemed to work. It was even free back then. I can tell you, the idea of using a free/unknown BIOS scared the hell out of me, but I didn't have many options.
This article discusses the research into the subject problem. Ironically, the paper to which they link, on the researchers own site is no longer at that address!! Seems like the authors were not eating their own dog food, as they say. Furthermore, news.com did a good job preserving the URL for the last 3 years. Kudos to them.
No it does not, not directly at least. There is no provision in the law that prohibits you from making copies for personal use.
From the article:
Indivuals who make a copy of a copyrighted DVD, CD or music file, whether for back-up or for use on another device such as an MP3 player, are committing a crime.
Even if this is for personal use they theoretically face up to two years in jail or an unlimited fine, and possible civil action from copyright holders.
I would say the reviews of running Photoshop on Wine are mixed, but I'll give you this: they're much better than the last time I looked at that page (there wasn't one success story).
I doubt it, for me. I have a *lot* of meta-data about photographs in an SQL database shared by TP and an application I wrote. I have yet to see something as powerful and open (not opensource) as TP.
No, you missed the mark a little. What you said can't happen until there is software for Linux that people know and love. Quicken, Photoshop and Thumbs Plus are things I can't give up (PLEASE! Don't tell me about the alternatives... I know about them). I'd switch in a heartbeat if they existed on Linux. I just can't do without them.
When the software is there, the big companies and users will follow. Not until.
I'd have a big problem switching to Fedora because of the 2-3 months after next release lifetime. This means that after version 2 comes out, version 1 will get security fixes for 2-3 months. That means people will be forced to upgrade much more frequently.
For me and the company I work for, this means switching to something other than Fedora.
Look, we know Hollywood hates TiVo. OK, more like terrified of it. Seems like this will be one way to kill a TiVo (or other similar device) foray into HDTV.
Since I have DirecTV, I'm not too worried, seeing as I got the TiVo from them... but things change...

I have Verizon and I've switched plans twice in the last few months, without changing the end date of my contract.
My $0.02:

All of these make Jessie more of an ass.

That's the point. If the hardware is 64-bit and the software is 32-bit, what do you call it? 32-bit, obviously.
"Doesn't support it yet" is very, very kind. There is no roadmap that shows when they will have a 64-bit OS.
Every time I post this, I get modded down by the Mac fanatics. So, go ahead, I'm expecting it.
You probably haven't heard that Amazon.com charges different prices at different times for different users, so it's entirely possible that it was $24.95 for him.
From the article:
The article is wrong, then?

Of course if Cerious went under I'd have to migrate. But why migrate to something inferior unless I have to? Talk about obvious...

What do you think is better than TP?

His review is here.
It's Berkeley. Cripes.
Can you be specific? What is their position that you find wrong?

Suse's Enterprise is not downloadable, unlike Red Hat's. I wonder if Red Hat will be changing this now... it might make sense.
Fedora is the replacement for the free Red Hat.
and SuSe 9.0 professional will also support AMD64 quite well. It comes out this week, if I remember correctly.
since I started using Mozilla. As if there aren't enough other reasons to switch, this is a very good one.

If you have a TiVo, get a season pass for Frontline. They often replay old shows.
Frontline, a great PBS documentary series, had a show on this, called Nuclear Reaction. Highly recommended.
