    I followed the link to the NVidia drivers suggested during installation, and saw they were a beta version. I decided to stick with 162.18 (for an 8800, so ymmv) and am having no issues at all with stability or performance. If you went with the beta drivers, you might consider rolling back and trying again.

    I hope you get it squared away. This really is a fun game (I am playing hooky from work today to play it, actually). Good luck!

    Even if a guy would get his work done, I *would* have a problem if he browsed for porn while at work.

    If it doesn't prevent you from getting your work done, do you really have a (good) reason to care?

    Easier said than done. When you absolutely love what you do, it is nearly impossible to turn it off when you leave the office.

    Yes, but most of these engineers have a lot less impact at their company than I do at mine. I have the opportunity to influence the direction my company takes (in regards to technology). I also mentor and train other engineers. These things require a bit more than 40-hours/week.

    As a salaried software engineer, I am on call basically 24/7 (and that is often exercised when we push code to production). If I am expected to allow work to invade my personal life, then my personal life will have to invade work from time to time. Fair is fair.

    While I agree that Notepad is a powerful editor, I feel that Wordpad's ability to underline text on the same line edges it out for the extreme programmer. Plus, you can write your release notes in Wingdings.

    Perhaps those people just don't tell you everything. Most folks don't openly discuss their medical conditions (semi-anonymous Internet forums notwithstanding).

    If you are a Windows user, the Accessibility control panel applet enables you to control the pointer with your keyboard. I'm sure other operating systems offer similar functionality.

    Still untrue. We may be losing, but it isn't because some abstract concept is winning. It just isn't that simple.

    I submit to you that it is equally possible that you are fooled or trying to fool others.

    I can't argue that. We are all kept in such darkness, I'd be surprised if even one of us really knows what's going on. However, it's a safe bet that it isn't what we are being told.

    The only way this statement could possibly be true is if the terrorists you mention are actually elected U.S. officials. Otherwise, you are either fooled or trying to fool others.
