I wonder if Stardock is going to have issues with the name?

Before WindowBlinds came along they also had a titlebar skinner named WinFX.

As an AIW 8500 owner IMHO that is it's single biggest problem. XP Media Center Edition does not have this problem however. See:

The current AIW is pretty good for this, though not as good as the TIVO (imho, I own both). The next version of the AIW will add one big thing which the current is missing, which is a hardware mpeg2 encoder. This should make a huge difference in performance.

I have had very good luck with them. Ordered one bare bones system, one mobo/cpu/ram combo, the remainder of the parts for both of those systems, and about three complete computers in parts. I have been very happy with the service with each of the about 10 orders I have placed.

My one experience with newegg was also good.

I had this happen to me under Win XP Pro three days ago. About a 30 minute repair install and another 15 minutes making sure all the latest updates and drivers were install everything is running great.

Nice UI in XP, built in zip compression (a direct hit at WinZip and clones)

Nice once you change if from that hideous blue to the much better silver .

One of the first things I installed was WinZip. Though for most people the built in util is probably good enough. I use WinZip's various context menu entries for just about everything. I suggest to anyone who hasn't already to grab the latest beta of WinZip.

WindowBlinds (which is what MS licensed for the themes and skinning in XP)

MS did not license WB for the skinning in XP. They developed there own engine which functions very similar to WB.

  7. Re:Kinda a FYI on World's First XP System Sold · · Score: 1

MS made the gui skinnable (almost exactly like windows blinds)

Without a third party skinning tool (like WindowBlinds) the only skins that are going to be available are going to be color variations of the included style. See http://www.stardock.com/ for a news blurb about how Stardock (the makers of WindowBlinds) are going to be launching WB 3 from Microsoft. XP's theme format may be cracked, but it has not happened yet and as .msstyles have to be digitally signed probably won't be happening.
