"There’s no way to rule innocent men. The only power government has is the power to crack down on criminals. When there aren’t enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. " - Ayn Rand
What is this "war" everyone is talking about? We elected the guy that represented the half of the establishment party that was against the war. Clearly it is over.
Yes, it's UNDENIABLE... except for the thousands of scientists that deny it, of course. Don't worry, as long as we continue to hand billions of dollars per year over to these unbiased researchers, they'll save us... don't worry about the faked or misinterpreted data, it was all for a good cause.
Obama is a socialist. Well, more of a corporatist whore, but certainly embracing socialism and fascism as well. Your diatribe to the contrary doesn't change the fact that he embraces wealth redistribution, state control of private companies, and crony capitalism.
However, the idea that republicans aren't just as bad is pretty laughable.
While you easily distracted people on both sides of the aisle defend your 'team', we all get screwed by the same establishment party.
I can cover 1 km pretty quickly, but then I'm far from being one of the 30%+ of obese Americans...
This sounds like a perfect government project - make people unhealthy, solve a problem that doesn't need a solution, and do it all by milking the tax payers for billions of dollars to funnel to unions and cronies.
This is clearly sexual discrimination with no need to probe into why there are differences. We must immediately pass a low mandating a $10k raise for all females in IT, spend $500M overhauling universities to make computer science more appealing, and change entrance standards to require 70% of all students to be female.
that's the problem. this is why clinton and reno PROTECTED us from an apocalyptic cult. it is not possible for civilian society to peacefully coexist with armed cultists. why?
You are one dangerously ignorant fool.
If you actually care about how ignorant you are on the topic, I'd recommend This is Not An Assault by David Hardy. He goes into plenty of detail on how "dangerous" Koresh's group was as well as how they were systematically murdered - and provides plenty of evidence.
However, I suspect you don't really care - as long as the government kills Americans you don't like, you don't really mind. If they kill Arabs in foreign countries, though, I bet you get seriously pissed.
How would you know? You've never seen a free market in your lifetime.
You're obviously the victim of the leftist propaganda that already exists in our textbooks. It's hard to get too upset about Texas just doing the same thing in the other direction, when we've had several generations of misguided people raised believing there's a free market, that the free market causes all these problems, and that somehow more valiant government bureaucrats, even more oppressive taxation, and hundreds of thousands of more pages of regulations are the answer.
Why is the answer to every miserable government failure always "more government"?
It's unfortunate we're going to have to have a total collapse to fix this mess, because far too many people have fallen into state-worship, and the state is nothing more than a corporatist's / fascist's dream these days.

I carry a gun because a cop was too heavy!

New religions are so fun to watch.
I can hardly wait to subsidize yet another big corporation. I was just thinking, I have wayyyyy too much money and I don't work nearly enough.
How about just dropping the Jones act and let foreign ships in to help, rather than this administration protecting its union cronies?
disclaimer: I loathed the last administration too.
I guess like everything else we over-tax and over-regulate, soon we'll drive all web hosting out of the United States.
This is going to be a hell of a country to live in 10-20 years from now when absolutely no business takes place here. :)
Instead, the spent about $20 worth of someone's time to plant a FUD story on slashdot?! :)
If we're not allowed to video tape cops doing bad things, perhaps it's time for armed intervention to save innocent people from overzealous cops.
Sarcasm mark - that's real useful.
I can't imagine what could possibly go wrong with giving the government more power to regulate the Internet.
It's a good thing only the republicans engage in fear tactics.

If you think the republicans have a monopoly on censorship, you've had your head buried in the sand too long.
Heard of the fairness doctrine?
The problem is that we health nuts now, by decree of our totalitarian rulers, have to pay for you lardos medical care. :)

... is what I learned from democrats:

Then, at last, we'll have eliminated sexism!
Are they finally cracking down on the Federal Reserve's printing of all this phony money?
You don't understand, it's okay with democrats now, because it's being done by *their* team.
If only we had a powerful and secretive central bank, all of this could be avoided!
I am convinced that those of you naive enough to beg the government to regulate the Internet will eventually get exactly what you wish for.

We libertarians don't approve of either.
At least you're not bigoted.
Uhh... no.
A civil war is a war between two groups in the same country for control of said country.
The South never desired control over the North, they just left - peacefully, too.
It's only a civil war if you somehow believe the revisionist history that states are not and were never allowed to leave a voluntary Union.
How would you know? You've never seen a free market in your lifetime.

We should start a war on drugs. I bet that would put a stop to this, and without violating any civil liberties or overpopulating our jails.
Also, I'd think this number would be dropping rapidly as fast as the Fed is inflating the money supply. :)
